Just logged one, had a message thing pop up. i went to see what it was:

I hate RapidShare with undying passion. I recommend everyone to use MediaFire while it's working - 100MB filesize limit, direct access to files (means you can use DL accelerators), no file removal, no timers, no retarded CAPTCHA's that are more guesswork than filters for humans and bots, no download quota for users (or files AFAIK)... It's pretty much perfect for <100MB files.
On topic of the ship - downloading it now. :)

Yeah while it's working. As in, if (or when) it shuts down.
It does work very well all the time now, but it feels dubious to me that they could actually make profit with the service, so I fear it's just a matter of time before it goes down, but while it lasts, use it since it's pretty much ideal for short term hosting of smaller-than-100MB files like this one. At least if you don't have own public html quota from some Uni or something.

http://upload2.net/ 25mb limit so most files we would use are way under that...
NO captures or passworded crap, no wait till download crap, BUT there are ads now (wasn't for 2 years before though) you should just hit SKIP button. Don't know if it's on DL it;s on Upload... Still way less hassle than the others... Plus you get the file faster...
30 day no activity limit though...

So, exactly how "fixed" is this Hera?
IIRC, the other one was unusable even with the missing texture due to the number of model glitches.
I'd assume this one fixes those?

On the other hand, I maded some shinemaps for it, for what they're worth... also, one of the glow maps on it was a bit strange as it kinda makes the hull glow and where the two textures were supposed to align, the other was brighter and the other darker due (mostly) to the glow map so I fixed that.
I wonder what it'll look normal mapped... :drevil:

I'll see what I can do. If I can make passable temporary normal maps by filtering the main textures, I'll include them, but if they just don't look good I'll upload it without them and someone will at some point dedicate enough time to manually make the normal maps (this one's gonna take it's time, it has two 2048^2 maps and a lot of normal-mappable details... :shaking:

You know, people coming to this forum who don't automatically read Titan's posts just to see what kind of antics he's up to now, are probably not going to read this based on the subject. Perhaps something more appropriate could be used so others might actually? Something with "GTD Hera" in it perhaps? Just a thought.

I got that PM too ... well at least we have that missing texture now. Looking at the model, it seems like a couple of the geometry errors may have been fixed, but many still remain. The glowmaps are messed up. capital3t-01a-glow is all dark grey, so large sections of the hull glow slightly, looking odd next to the sections that don't. The same thing is true for parts of capital3t-01b-glow, but not the whole texture...

When flying to the rear of the ship from the front (exiting the "Hanger bay" in the underside of the nose is a good start), there is a box. The top edge of this box is not joined and/or textured properly, as you can see a nice "through the model, everything is seen" gap.

Actually, as far as the model goes, I should mention that I think it looks a bit more like a boss level from Super Mario Bros than a capital ship texture. Might not be the same when it's in game and a bit larger scale though. It's still pretty though.

There are some things still somewhat amiss in the model - somehow, the rightside center engine glows are not aligned to the thrusters on the model, even though they are symmetric to the thrusters on the other side, which makes me believe that the model is either not centered or not symmetric as far as the thrusters on the main hull are considered.
There's also a hole in the model (already mentioned once twice - ah screw it, just mentioned - before I got to finishing this post but whatever, I have an image!), on the bottom stern part of the ship where there's this big flat area receding into the main hull, it doesn't quite align with the rest of the ship, leaving a seam on it's rear end...

blowfish - what parts of the other glow map are inappropriately glowy? I fixed the uniform glowyness in the one you speak of, but I didn't notice anything significantly out of place in the other one... :nervous:
Also, something should be requested to be done to the thruster rendering system. It looks strange when the glows show through the model and fade out gradually like in this shot...

As far as the thrusters are concerned, I believe one of the coding team was talking about 'soft particles' once the material system is operating smoothly. Basically, they should help do away with a lot of glow/explosion clipping errors :)

That entire bank of engines (the engine models, not the thrusters) is slightly to the right of where it should be. You can see the sides of the engines through the sides of the ship.

Parts of the window texture. The hull is backlit in those parts. Looks kinda weird when viewed from the right angle. It is not in the rest of the window areas...

Yes, this is one of the holes I was talking about. There are also holes in the long top/bottom trenches (at the front), and on the tops of the engines, near the back, in one of the crevices (for lack of a better word)...

This latest one doesn't have the shine maps I made... Or normal maps for that matter, not that they were anything to be proud of. Haven't tested the model yet to see if any issues are fixed, though from modelview the starboard side central thruster bank is still offset to the right compared to the symmetry on the left side, as well as the thruster glows.
Also, what's with the pcx textures? :confused: I would kinda understand their distribution if this were to be retail-compatible ship, but AFAIK it isn't, so DDS's should be the way to go.
I'm currently at work so I don't have access to the maps atm, but I'll upload them (again) tonight to mediafire or something. Of course, having all the textures working is one thing, but it doesn't help with holes, faulty collision detection and other mistakes like the thruster offset...

this ship was made right before HTL was introduced.

Actually I'm more wondering the reason why most textures are DDS, but some aren't...
It's not a big deal, just a little strange IMO. I mean, why not go DDS for the whole bunch while you're on it...

Alright, upload the new version and call it "GTD Hera (completed)" so I know which one is the finished one and which to delete. I assumed that Titan's version was the final version (cause it was uploaded last), when apparently that wasn't the case.

I downloaded the one from first 2 links in the first post on here. It had the Titan weapon missing, but had the texture. Anyway, now I think I pretty much got it fully working- got the weapon, all the needed tbms, the textures, etc.
