Title: Woot! A Ship by me with some detail! WIP, though.
Post by: Admiral_Stones on June 11, 2008, 11:51:55 am
My first ship was a lesson in crapiness.

My second ship was already better, but got semi-flamed.

So now, I'm trying to smash something into your face with actual detail (on some spots that is).

Behold the...
INTr-24 Trinity Assault Transport
(read: Imperial Navy Transport Type 24)

The Trinity is the favored ship in space-to-ground invasion battles. Gifted with powerful engines, an extremely hard Brallium hull, thick tungsten-iridium armor, strong shields and an armament to be reckoned with, the Trinity has high chances to maneuver through light to medium defenses. Two light forward-firing dual Sadron Accellerators and four rapid fire turrets give them exceptionally heavy firepower. The turrets have only a limited field of fire, and the Trinity's flanks are unprotected, giving them trouble passing through a strong fighter protection.
Once a Trinity reaches the ground, they drop a container manned with 25 men (a half platoon). They comfortably fit into the container with full equipment and armour, so they are able of instantly joining the battle.

It's difficult to do curves in SketchUp (but by no means impossible with practice).

It looks horrible smoothed like that and lacks a lot detail.

It's not your first model in SketchUp either, is it? I mean practically all of our first models were the template boxes. :D
