...did 12k of my posts go?
:mad2:
-
Ha ha ha ha ha - 12000
that's alot of gen disc posting you did :D
-
Urgh, is that why....
And it wasn't GenDisc posting. It was Hard Light and Art and all kinds of other crap.
Bastards...
-
Hard Light = Gen Disc
I think 12k probably is the biggest single loss though unless Aldo beat you.
-
You're so lucky, Karajorma. You get to hit 20k posts twice. All I get to do is take a year longer to hit 3000. :(
-
Hmm. As for aldo:
Mmph, 8,205 (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?action=profile;u=181). That one used to be 22,912. No comment.
-
Why are post counts cleared once somebody hits four digits? Is it done to free up bandwidth or something like that?
-
:wtf:
General Discussion board has not been counting posts for quite some time now, but the change only affected messages posted afterwards. Messages posted were recalculated recently and this is why people also lost messages posted prior to the change from their post counts.
No messages have been deleted if that's what you thought.
-
I never really noticed if I lost any posts. I actually couldn't care less.
-
Since my post count was zeroed recently it actually made mine go up by around 7,000
-
You don't want to be pointing that out ;)
-
You don't want to be pointing that out
His post count was zeroed by his own request, and he never griped about it after the fact. Whatever anyone says about not caring about their post count, I think Snail is one of the few whose behavior matches the message.
-
i could care less about post count aswell. it's not like it does anything. mine could be a permanent zero and i wouldent even notice.
-
The only thing the post count does is to increase one's position by a power.
-
Oh, so you all would like us to hide post counts permanently. :drevil:
-
Nah, actually, it does have a sort of experience ranking.. not an entirely accurate one, but still, better than nothing. Some guy says "here, download this batch file to fix your FS2 problem" and he has 2 posts, hahahaha. If it's 24,000, maybe... maybe. Once I examine it myself, or several others do if I don't have the knowledge. xD
-
Actually, that position thingie is an incentive for people to post (constructively, of course). :nervous:
And while it increases through post count, it never decreases when the post counts are zeroed.

If you kept multiplying 2 by 2 by 2...

I didn't say that. :wtf:

If you kept multiplying 2 by 2 by 2...
You would get a multiple of 2.

That's how position is calculated, isn't it?
-
Yup. 2 to the power of whatever.

YES!

YES!
Seconded.
-
thirded?
-
Positively stunned.
Post counts suck.
-
I miss the old post count ranks (apollo, fenris, seketh etc)
-

Me too. The highest I saw was Fenris.
-
I actually like post counts. I get to know if I've been spamming too much. (as in, when the post count skyrockets)
-
Just had one of those evil ideas. Someone around here has that relative posts sig. Add a second line for % of relative posts.

How do you all know there isn't some super secret room for people with 2^13 or something? SMF does have the ability to do this built in I believe.

Alas, there isn't. :(
-
There are a lot of super secret rooms that you'd never guess existed ;) Only the admins know all of them :D
-
But you're not an admin, blowfish. How do you know? ;)
-
Because he has access to at least one of them, the SCP internal.
-
Oh, whee. :nervous:
-
Because he has access to at least two of them, the FotG internal and SCP internal.
Why would he have FotG internal access?
-
Oh oops. Fixed.
-
Yeah, I'm the one with both of those, I think he got us confused :)

Grognards was the old one, for people with 4096+ posts. It was Site Feedback.
-

Yes, there's that, and obviously all of the hosted projects have internal forums. But there are others as well. For a while, I didn't know that FSU had an internal forum, or that there was an admin internal. Also, there are entire SECTIONS of the forum you'd never guess existed :drevil: :nervous:
-
Yeah, hidden boards do exist. That's how I have more posts in my post count than in my entire post history.
But what are the hidden sections? O_o
-
That's for them to know and you to (eventually, maybe, maybe not) be granted access to.
-
Like the tentatively hosted projects?
Errr...nvm...

What, like Blowfish Incorporated?

...or The Hard Light Interview Center? :wtf:
-
...or The Hard Light Interview Center? :wtf:
Does any of that contain interviews of :v: employees?
-
Does any of that contain interviews of :v: employees?
It contains NOTHING. Check the Hosted section at the top. There's a link there.
-
Like I've said before, projects that have been dead since 04 shouldn't be on the top bar.
-
Send a PM to Goober and karajorma, then. ;)
-
theres actually a lot of interviews. the links are just dead
-

Goob and kara have already rejected my idea.

Uh... Did it ever contain interviews of :v: employees?
theres actually a lot of interviews. the links are just dead
Is there anyone who has a list of the links?
-
no, nothing related to [V] employees, calm down. it was all project leads and stuff
there's a whole interview forum, but the link on the page directs to the gamespy one, and only an admin or global mod would be likely to be able to link to it for us
