I was wondering if anyone knew how to port things from imperial alliance into the main freespace game?
It has been done in this video:

Anyone know how to do that?

Oh this video.
Well, firstly check the post with the 'How to start modding' topic. You first need to understand the concept of Modding FreeSpace. (Or in your case, porting)

Oh, that thing. Yea, I ported the Star Destroyer. But the model is very bad... Part of it's texture is gone, and etc... Really. The Star Wars mod here on HLP is much MUCH better.
Imperial Alliance uses a modified exe. So the hud, menus and etc. are unique and everything. And the exe got the file archives in different format too. They are EH. Now, to open them, it's really simply. You need to have the VP viewer. Rename the large Imperial Alliance file extensions ( [large-file-name].eh ) - from EH to VP. Then open them in the VP viewer that comes with Volition's FreeSpace tools and voila- you got it open. Then, it's just a simple bit of modding that you can learn the basics from the "How To Start Modding" thread.

That dosent work, whenever I do that it just says "Invalid VP file" and when I click on properties it says that it's still an EH file.

Alright, I have turned it into a VP file, but it still wont open.

You need to fully view the filename. Then, the part where it says EH you change to VP and press enter. Then it'll be a VP. There will be a confirmation message when you press enter. Just select YES.
It opens to me when it's changed to VP.

It still doesnt seem to work.
