Title: scp.indiegames.us screenshots
Post by: jr2 on June 18, 2008, 06:01:06 pm
http://scp.indiegames.us/screenshots.php

IMHO, clicking a picture in the main category should go to the list of pictures, or display a choice.  How many people may wonder why 44 images don't display, when they don't realize they have to click the text to access that?  Perhaps just change the text to say "click to display all xx images"?

Last time I checked "scp.indiegames.us" is not "hard-light.net", and thus is not under HLP's jurisdiction.

Also there are BluePlanet screen-shots in Inferno.

And BluePlanet screeenshots in misc.  And one misc screenshot in Inferno (the one with the Raynor firing its beamz).

But it is under the SCP's jurisdiction, and it doesn't have forums of their own (they link back here since the old ones never got used).

Are these all of the misplaced Blue Planet screenshots?:

This topic was moved over from the Site Support. Forgot to mention that when I moved the topic. :p

While we're on the topic of the new site (which is rather snazzy), the 3.6.9 system requirements seem somewhat over-inflated, at least in the minimum sense.  For instance, I have a Radeon X300 64MB and 512MB of RAM, and I've never had any issues running just about all of the MediaVPs (though the staggering slowdowns when using ADVeffects are really something to see).  Perhaps that section could be clarified to indicate that those are the required specs if you want the full spread of new effects enabled, since the bare executable and the core VP should be perfectly capable of running on far less.

True, but we don't want to turn people off of the project just because they don't have teh supercomputorz. :p

I can kick the system requirements down, but right now the only thing you just said that directly contradicts what's on the website is the 512MB of RAM. The X300 is actually a little better than some of the 9xxx cards (At least based on what I read on wikipedia). I do say on that page:

Note that all system requirements are a rough estimate. Since the FSSCP is a noncommercial entity, it has not been possible to do official testing on a wide range of hardware.

What would make that clearer/more evident to you?

I wasn't sure where the X300 fit into the whole spectrum of video cards; it's kind of surprising to learn that it actually manages to be better than something.  As for the disclaimer, I honestly didn't catch it the first time I glanced at the page; inserting it before the list of requirements, or at least adding a bit of bold, might make it more visible.  Also, adding a note stating that the system requirements are dependent on what add-ons/features the user chooses to enable might be a good idea.

I love the SCP. A few years back, that would have been a render that Steak would have been proud of. These day it's a screenie. Incredible.
