Might be useful, gives pros and cons of each one.

I found this (http://"http://virusscan.jotti.org/") web page, scans the uploaded file with 13 different AV software.

would have been better if there was a poll so i could correlate the results with the ratings. ive been using avg for awhile and ive been getting pissed at the thing for detecting open source installers and deleting them. is avast alot better than avg or are they about even?

I do prefer avast! over AVG. For one thing, I had trouble getting the automatic updates to work properly on (some previous version of) AVG. avast! manages them without any hassle. Second, avast! has multiple localizations available. Oh, and the funny feature that avast! has: you can schuedule it to perform a system scan during the next time you boot up your computer, so that it can perform a scan before the OS and other software have fired up completely.

I've had one (hopefully) false alarm with avast!, when it stated that the ATI drivers acquired from my laptop manufacturer's site had a rootkit in 'em. But I just told it to stfu and continue with the installation. No probs there, either.
