Title: Game exists to "welcome zone" after mission completed
Post by: peerLAN on June 19, 2008, 01:05:43 pm
I don't know where to post this so I'll do it here. After I finish the mission where the alliance is running away and the star transforms into a super nova end explodes, it doesn't give me any results after i jump (you have a time limit to jump), it just takes me to the “welcome zone” ( the base with the campain, options, etc. )

The Support board would probably have been a good choice. But, to business. Could you be a bit more specific about what happens? What "welcome zone"? Retail FS2 or FSO? Computer specs? Are drivers up to date?

:welcomesilver:

Is this in a campaign or in a techroom mission, because that's what happens if you finish a mission in the simulator in the tech room.
However, it it returns to mainhall from a campaign, there's a problem (unless the campaign is finished).

You completed the campaign, that's why :) And there's a special case hard coded into the game for that particular mission that sends it straight into the cutscene after you finish, and if those are missing it will just jump to the main hall.

Oh, the main hall. That happens because you've finished the last mission of the campaign. And you seem to be missing the cutscenes if you can't see one before ending up to the main hall.

it takes me to the mainhall from a campaign, it doesn't even tells me if I did something well or wrong. Sorry, I posted faster because I pressed enter by mistake, I added more info. Thanks for the help.

@Shade
So the super nova mission is the last mission?

Hehe you keep posting before I have time to answer. Ok, thank you very much for the answer I would have loved for the game to go on. You need to have the retail version for the movies or are they available? Any idea on what to do next :)

Yeah, its the end of the campaign. Congrats. You beat the game. Now go play some custom campaigns.
I suggest Derelict and Blue Planet.

If you play retail, you'll need the original .mve cutscenes, which are rather big. The FSO engine, on the other hand, can play .ogg cutscenes that are virtually as good quality but take up a lot less disk space. Turey's Installer is a rather good choice if you want to try FSO.

If you are playing FSO, make sure to select OpenGL instead of Direct3D in the Launcher's Video tab.

I get really bad framerates with .OGG scenes.

A certain TBP board moderator will probably again get mad at me, but... weirdo. They work fine on my end.

Thanks for the fast answers; I'm glad that FreeSpace has such an active community. I will try Derelict now as the FSO installer has it in the list and check out the cutscenes (even if it's a bit late now :P). Cheers!
