Self-explanatory title:
Where can I get OpenGL 1.2?
(windows version... i found already a good number of Mac versions but i can't install them).
Thanks
-
Within new enough drivers for your graphics card.
-
Does this mean i can download it from somewhere or not?

Yes, go to the your graphics cards website and download the latest version of drivers from their site!
What graphics chip do you have?
-
You do not download OpenGL, it is in the graphics card drivers.
-
What graphics chip do you have?
ATI MOBILITY RADEON 7500 AGP (LW)
DAC type: INTERNAL DAC (350MHz)

No wait. A Mobility one. Check your laptop manufacturer's site for drivers.
-
Computer manufacturers usually don't keep up-to-date with their drivers. Try Omega Drivers to see if they work with your card, it uses modified inf-file to install drivers even on mobility radeons. http://www.omegadrivers.net/ati.php
-
I might have it - PM me. i'm not sure whether it's 1.2 or 1.5 though.
Edit: here's 1.1
Edit2: Removed

*FACEPALM*
It's included with drivers, you don't actually download it. That is 13 years old, the one you uploaded.
-
what?
-
This is the origin of the file tinfoil posted; http://support.microsoft.com/kb/154877
It is OpenGL API for Windows 95. :p
As has been said many times now. To get latest OpenGL functionality for your video card, install latest drivers. It won't magically update your OpenGL games with better graphics though, just like playing a DirectX 8 game won't look any better on video card supporting DX9 or newer.
-
what?
I assume most people at HLP have evolved beyond Windows 95 by now.
-
Damn Cole and his editing.
any way he wanted 1.2 and i gave him 1.1 which is only slightly older
-
Edivad's a bit confused, he'd like a step-to-step guide...
-

Giving people 13-year-old files meant for Windows 95 might not be that helpful nowadays. Especially since every other person in this thread has stated that updating graphics drivers brings forth the latest and greatest installment of OpenGL.
-
Fine. ignore it. I don't really care

Great... Mobius seems always to be reading in my mind.... it must be some sort of strange italian psychic ability....

Eh? You told me that...you forget things so easily...eat some fish! :P

First, find a set of drivers suitable for your graphics card. If you want to be cutting-edge and have all the newest ****, do what Fury said and try the Omega drivers. If you want to play it safe, browse through your laptop manufacturer's site and look for drivers for the particular laptop you have.
Then, when you've downloaded the new drivers, uninstall the old ones. Happens by opening the Add/Remove Program thing from the Control Panel (assuming you are running XP or the likes). Find the part that says ATI Software Uninstallation Utility or something like that. Uninstall it: it should remove anything ATI related. Reboot when promted. Go and check the same Add/Remove Program list to see if there are still ATI components there. If yes, remove them as well. If not, proceed.
Install the new drivers you recently downloaded. Reboot when promted.
Enjoy.

@tinfoil (and Edivad): OpenGL is a way that GPUs use to render stuff. The thing you posted is an API, which seems to be a GUI, a.k.a just shiny stuff. OpenGL is inside the video card drivers, similar to D3D. To get OpenGL, install new drivers.
-
ok, i updated the video driver downloading the last version i found on the IBM site...
However, there still seems to be no Open GL 1.2 (as the FRED-error log below shows)
now, i have a doubt... my laptop dates back to 2002... is it possible for such a thing to use the recent version of openGL?
EDIT: to the INFASA team members: the standard versions of FS SCP INF-ALLIANCE and INFRENO SCP were running fine... is the new FRED-INFASA so much different from the previous FRED-SCP???
HERE THE FRED - ERROR LOG

I feel inferior suggesting this but maybe use D3D
-
I think that that GPU may be too old.
-
He needs OpenGL to run INFASA and FRED INF... :)
-

i think that your laptop vidio card to change to nividia geforce fx go 5700 most you have than it works
Srsly, though. If the error persists even after updating the drivers, the only explanations are that either he managed to get yet another set of oldish drivers or the graphics card, lacking a better term, sucks. Tough luck. Either switch back to a working version of FRED or face the consequences.
-
Like I said, computer manufacturers do not usually update drivers. As a matter of fact, unless there is a serious bug or incompatibility problem in the drivers that the laptop was shipped with, it is unlikely new drivers will be released. This means Edivad probably installed same version of the driver he already had.
For laptops it is often only choice to get 3rd party modified drivers, like Omega Drivers I mentioned earlier. However, laptop specific features may not work with such drivers, including but not necessarily limited to power management, external displays and tv-out.
-
ok so, unless i change computer, there is NOTHING i can do to use INFASA; did i understand well??
come on, there will be here some computer genius who can solve my problem.... I heard it is possible to download the OPENGL1,2..... could this be a possible hope? If it is, how?
Thanks again
-
A similar scenario occured in another thread. Do make sure that you have a proper set of chipset drivers installed for your motherboard. Having none might hinder anything achieved with the graphics card.

Ummm... try the Omega Drivers like I've suggested at least twice?

Yeah... thanks Fury!
It works!
See you to the next problem!!

What precisely are the Omega drivers? What separates them from manufacturer-issued drivers?

They're custom-written and tweaked to performance prior to installation. In some cases, they fix known manufacturer bugs.
-
How come there are so many ads on the site? (not that AdBlock doesn't fix that :P)
Like honestly, that's the most I've ever seen.
EDIT: The new site seems to be better, but look at the old one on Archive.org.

Actually Omega Drivers have been traditionally tweaked for image quality. Unless that has changed in the last few years.
