Awesome, cant wait to blow it up ;7
-
Can't wait to buzz the tower!
-
can we see the -I and -II side by side? I don't see the difference (so smack me).

/me smack
that's for not doing it yourself.
Imperial I-class Star Destroyer

Imperial II-class Star Destroyer
(http://img176.imageshack.us/img176/619/isdii03es9.jpg)(http://images.wikia.com/starwars/images/f/f0/ISD.jpg)
Then again, I don't see any difference myself XD
-
Its all in the bridge area. The ISD-I's is taller, while the ISD-II's is lower and wider.
The engine rings are different too, IIRC.
-
and look at the tower between the two shield generators.
-
Here ya go

-
I guess we also have to take into account the slightly different levels of completion on the two models.
Lookin' good.
-
They're both complete...
Haha, just kidding

Yay yay ya--
Haha, just kidding
... Arse. :p
-
Heh, I can hardly tell the difference between Haloboy's real ISDII image and Fractal Sponge's model. Almost looks like that's what he grabbed a picture of. I had to doublecheck to notice the color was a bit different.
-
Here we go, another WIP
(http://img111.imageshack.us/img111/5710/isdii04uz5.jpg)
-
Its so pretty... *puppy eyes*
-
Another update, now with Turrets:
And another comparison shot:
-
And just cause I never do head on shots, one for fun
(http://img77.imageshack.us/img77/3710/headonyu2.jpg)
-
Wouldn't wanna see that bearing down on me. Great work, as always.
-
In EAW the aggressor had a photon beam and that was an Imperial-II Class, I think it's the same tech as the freespace beams.
Not sure why I mention it. It still looks great, what are you going to start on once these two are finished?
-
After this I haven't decided.
And our ISD will not have a photon beam. Pretty much anything that's been added in EAW will not be in our game
-
Some more greebles on the sides now.
-
Oh, and a shot from behind, because I don't do enough of those usually

Will we have destroyed subsystem submodels?
-
Of course we will.
-
How do you go about the detail boxing? Will you model the details into the model and separate them later on, or you're already building separate models that you superimpose over the base model for screenshooting purposes?
-
They're already separate models. What you see there in these renders is a number of different objects layered over eachother.
-
Of course we will.
For turrets only (as usual) or for subsystems too (like Raven2k+1's HTL Hecate)?
-
Hey, I did that. When I got it from Raven it was all one model.
-
Hey, I did that. When I got it from Raven it was all one model.
Well good job on that then.
-
:P
-
Heh, I'm planning to hopefully have destroyed subobject models for anything that can be destroyed.
-
More work on those side greebles:

Here we go, another WIP shot with moar greeblez

Are the Imperial I and Imperial II models based on the same mesh or were they developed separately but at the same time?
-
From the looks of things I'd say he's developing them both from the same mesh, and simply turning off parts unique to one model or the other.
-
At this point they're two separate meshes, they started as one, but there were certain things with proportions and overall structure that required me to split them into two meshes.
It's easier to see in the comparison image.
-
One of the differences between your ISD I and ISD II models is a thin plate on the forward dorsal surface of the ISD II, between the thicker plates that appear on both models. Is that artistic license? Because I don't see any such raised plate in this reference (http://www.amazingstarships.com/models/starwars/stardestroyer_018.JPG).
-
The ISDII had 2 shooting models, a large scale one and a small scale one. the large scale one didn't have the plate, but the small scale did
(http://images.wikia.com/starwars/images/thumb/f/f0/ISD.jpg/600px-ISD.jpg)
I chose to include it further differenciate the two subclasses

Updated Render, more detail on the front of the nose and on the side of the bridge
EDIT: Render back up
