Title: Briefing Icons?
Post by: IronForge on June 29, 2008, 09:24:06 pm
Hi, I don't understand one part of the fred editor tutorials, the one referring to briefing.
How do I create an icon that will show up in the briefing room?

The tutorial says:

Quote
'To make an icon, select a ship and then press Make Icon. (If you're working out in empty space, you'll have to create an object, make an icon, and then delete the object.) You can move an icon around just as you would an object. You cannot rotate it, though, and it will not appear smaller if you move it farther away.'

I rightclicked the ship, no such option as 'make icon'.
I also doubleclicked it to open the menu, but also no 'make icon' function. Someone care to explain?

You need to be in the briefing editor to do it.  Once there you can select the normal FRED window in the background and move around, create ships, hightlight ships etc.  I just use the make icon button in the editor when I have the ship highlighted.  I mostly use notepad for briefings as it becomes a pain at times.

Bottom right - make sure you're not in the 'Command Briefing' editor.

Bottom right corner. Notice it's greyed out until you select a ship.
