Heres a fun idea - Next time you read or watch the Duniverse, replace the charaters with FFVII Compilation characters, in terms of appearence.
Heres my List of who would play who

Yuffie Kisaragi = Ghanima Atreides
Zack Fair = Duncan Idaho
Genesis Rhapsodos = Suk Doctor Wellington Yueh
Angeal Hewley = Guney Halleck
Grimoire Valentine = Thufir Hawat
House Harkonnen
President Shinra = Baron Vladimir Harkonnen
Hojo = Piter De Vries
Cloud Stryfe = Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen
Loz = Glossu "The Beast" Rabban Harkonnen
Professor Hollander = the Baron's Doctor
Lazard = Captain Iakin Nefud
House Corrino
Heidegger as Padishah Emperor Shaddam IV
Scarlett as Reverend Mother Gaius Helen Mohiam
Tifa as Princess Irulan
Yazoo as Farad'n Corrino
Reeve Tusti as Count Hasimir Fenring
The Tsveits as Sardukaar
Fremen
Verdot as Stilgar
The other Turks as Various Fremen...Maybe the Fedaykin...

sacrilege! gods below, kill him!
-
What did i do wrong?
-
you compared dune to final fantasy!
-
I'm not comparing them.
I'm just replaceing the appearences of the Dune characters with those of FFVII characters
-
so your saying ff sorta stole dunes characters. then again so did star wars.
-
FF creators are known to be SW fans...
-
What's wrong with the actor's in the movie/mini-series?
Ok Kyle Maclachan and Alec Newman both looked a bit too old to portray Paul, the BG looked well freaky with their male-pattern baldness... though I liked the direction they took in the mini-series with the actor that played Stilgar. Kind of the opposite of the guy in Lynch's version.

I'm not sure he's really saying that Nuke...but yeah some parallels can be drawn between Star Wars and Dune.
Like...
Luke = Paul
Leia = Alia or maybe Chani but the note that the spelling of 'Alia' just looks and sounds a bit like 'Leia'
Obi-Wan/Yoda = Gurney/Stilgar
Han = Duncan?
Emperor Palpatine = Shaddam IV?
Jabba = Leto II (God-Emperor)
Force = Wierding Way/prana-bindu...whatever it's called
Tatooine = Arrakis/Dune
Asteroid worm thing in TESB = sandworm/Shai Hulud
Also something about spice is involved in the Kessel Run, I think...
But hey all stories in whatever media they're made borrow from other stories to a greater or lesser degree.
-
What im doing is simply taking the appearences of the Dune characters and altering the, so they look like FFVII characters
Im taking Paul Atreides and Giving him the Appearence of Sephiroth instead of how he's desribed in the books
And making Feyd-Rautha look like Cloud stryfe
Love those dune/star wars Parallels
Id say Anakin as paul
Padme as Channi
Luke and Leia as Leto II the younger and Ghanima
Need to think about the others...
Am i limited to film-only SW characters or can i use the whole expanded universe?
-
It's your mind. :)
The other day I was trying to draw parallels between the characters in Dune and the Matrix Trilogy but didn't get far (Neo = Paul/Muad'Dib/KH, Morpheus = Stilgar, Trinity = Chani, Smith = Feyd?, Agents = Harkonnen/Sardaukar... or maybe Face Dancers). The idea of 'The One' is what got me thinking about it.
Ugh too much time on my hands it seems.

that actually makes sense
