The wingmen in freespace are not talking or making any sounds (maybe they don't like for killing them over and over again ;7).
Please help.

Do you have the retail vp stu_fs2.vp in your FS2 directory?
-
Have you succeeded in moving to FSO?
-
i have got stu_fs2.vp in my FS2 directory.
i have also found that the voice works fine on the main freespace 2 campaign so i'll have a closer look a the FRED mission i made.
And no i have not succeeded to moving to FSO it worked for awhile but it had problems.
When the jump out (alt-j) thing happen the fighter/bomber i was using just went straight throught the subspace hole and didn't disapper on the other side it also shut it engines off too.
Also the ships jumping in you could see the rest of them on the other side of the subspace hole.
The music didn't work too. (do you really need openAL to make it run?)
i tried putting the .vp file in again but it just start with the needs openAL to run

So this actually concerns a mission you made? And I thought you had issues with the actual FS2 campaign. This would actually qualify as a FRED issue. Well, issue as in, you haven't done something and the wingmen comments don't include audio. Or something.

Umm, what?

No, of course not. They just say that everywhere in order to fool you.[/sarcasm]
Of course you need to have OpenAL installed if you want to play FSO. And I don't understand why you're afraid of OpenAL. It's free and is mainly developed by Creative (you know, the company that manufactures mp3 players, for example). Installing it takes roughly 2 seconds and once installed, it takes 0.71 megs of disk space. That's less than most Windows updates.

Umm, what .vp?

ok i just install openal if it does anything to my computer can i just delete it and that will be it?
also is there more to be done then just clicking OK on the openal screen and the message pops up saying installation compete.

Yes, though there really is no reason to. It doesn't do anything evil. Trust me. But yes. It is listed on the Add/Remove Programs section, accessible from the Control Panel. You can remove it from there. If you want to, that is.

No. You just run the installer, click Next or whatever and that's it. It's so small that it takes virtually no time to install it. When it's finished, just OK yourself out and you're ready.

ok i download the FSO installer and FSO works :D so very very very happy and such detail.
but still one problem: the voices they work on the freeSpace main campaign but i have found there is nothing wrong with my FRED the voices don't work on any other campaigns either (such as Derelict which actually did give my nightmares great campaign very scary).

but i have found there is nothing wrong with my FRED
So, um, for clarification: which one do you mean? That your wingmen don't speak out loud whenever there's dialogue or that they never say even "Show us how it's done, sir."? If the latter, you've probably messed something up with FRED. If the former, well, they can't speak if no one has done any voice-acting for them.
the voices don't work on any other campaigns either (such as Derelict which actually did give my nightmares great campaign very scary).
Go here (http://hosted.filefront.com/BlaiseRussel/1537576) and download DerelictSCP1-4.rars. Because most likely you only have DerelictSCP.rar which contains just the campaign. The ones with numbers have the voice files.
And najority of user-made campaigns are not voice-acted. So, if you play, for example, Blue Planet and there aren't any voices, it's not a problem but reality.

ahhh i've now found that FRED Open works fine its only the FRED retail that doesn't work (i won't be using that for a while since now that FreeSpace open works).
There is no-dialog with the wingmen commands and Command and support ships. and a text or visuals (example "yes sir, we'll take 'em down!"). all other voices work fine.
Also i already have DerelictSCP1-4.rars.
Just a bit off topic could anyone give me a link to a guide for FRED open.
-
The closest thing to a guide is my FAQ (linked below) and the wiki (Linked at the top of the page).

just while i'm here the cutscenes in FSport don't work (the voice works fine thought).
Really its likely just me because all i did was use it as a MOD in the launch.
is there anything i was suppose to do with the cutscence vp or any others?

Using the Launcher is a good thing. Keep it up. If you have a .vp that contains the FS1 cutscenes, just place it to your FSPort folder. And remember to select OpenGL instead of Direct3D from the Launcher.

 it works everything works fine thanks for the help!
until i run in to another very easily very simple problem.
cheers
ok this may or may not be alright:
on the techroom screen the cutscenes will not show up
however intro does for some reason the descrpition says that is is the FS 2 intro but when you play it is the FS 1 intro please help this is maybe the last problem i have will this.
-
Hmm. I'll have to check whether it shows as "the FS2 intro" on my end. Haven't thought about it before. But in regards to the cutscenes being on the list in the tech room: how far have you played? The cutscenes will appear on the list one by one, always after you've seen one during the campaign. Of course, you can use the old Ctrl-Shift-S trick to view them all immediately.
-
i've see one were there was a planet and a women talking in the background and a lab scene and a briefing scene about capturing the Tarinis.
-
Hmm. Could you provide screenshots of \freespace2\ and \freespace2\fsport\?

I don't know what you mean or what you want to do
How do you make screenshots
-
Hmm. It really seems that taking screenshots isn't as common knowledge as I had thought.
1. Open your \freespace2\ folder. Try to do it so that all the files in it are visible.
2. Press the Prt Sc button on your keyboard.
3. Open the image editing software of your choice (even Paint will do).
4. Press Ctrl-V.
5. Save the image.
6. Repeat steps 1-5 for your \freespace2\fsport\ folder.
7. Attach the screenshots to your post (hint: click Additional Options when posting).
