This morning I got up and thought: "Hey, translating FS2 will be a great idea! Let's hear what the guys of the SCP think..." and so I opened this post...
So, my question is: Are there developers ready to assembly my and my "crew"'s dialogs and texts on the main engine of the game?
I can translate and dub to italian texts and dialogs, then upload 'em.
Thanks for reading

Quite old news, my friend. Many people have thought about translating, and some have even translated stuff th French, for example. But the problem is with the fonts. The basic font in FreeSpace supports letters A-Z and numbers 0-9. Symbols not belonging to either group won't show properly. Symbols like é, ä and such. There is some bizarre method of adding new characters but I don't know. Freaky.
And I wouldn't know about "assembling". If you want to translate FS2, it's strings.tbl that you should translate. Then, just upload it somewhere and inform the people that it exists and can be downloaded.

Ok, anyway, thanks for help, you have been useful XD
Maybe there's a way to change the base font... I'll see, thanks again

Change Strings.tbl and Tstrings.tbl. Once someone can give the SCP a version that should work we can concentrate on making it actually work. :)

Hi there!
I want translate Freespace: SCP into Hungarian. It's a long story to write about the FontTool but managing it to work is hard as hell too. BTW I couldn't able to. Anyway, years ago Komet localized Freespace 2 into Japanese. Source code is available too but alas, I can't code. Maybe some smart people can help us "importing" the language-specific chars into FS:SCP
I know that Italian has some accentuated chars like ù and à but Hungarian has much more: öüóőúéáűí Therefore it's nearly impossible to do the work with FontTool.
Here you can find the link to the Japanese translation:

Note that there are hiraganas and katakanas in the translation so changing fonts in the game is possibile.

.. And here I was wondering if there was a Japanese translation.

If anyone wants to translate it into portuguese one day, I could help a bit.
