Title: cockpit internal view
Post by: origin on July 09, 2008, 05:52:59 am
I wanted to have the cockpit viewable from the inside of the ship.  I thought it would be something fairly easy like putting '$cockpit POF file:' in the ships tbm file and then putting a pof of the cockpit in the models file but I guess not.  FS won't even start with the $cockpit POF in the tbm file.

Is there a tutorial how to do this or is it really involved?

Thanks.

You have to first get a cockpit modelled into your fighter first. Then after you have converted the model to POF, you have to add an eyepoint inside the cockpit. Then you just need to add "show_ship" to the $flags field.

That's the basic procedure but I'll let someone else explain how to do it step-by-step.

do you have a build that support this feature?

because the cockpit pof is not a retail feature for the engine ;)

I am running FS open 3.6.9.  So I thought the POF route would work.  Any ideas?

Just get any latest build. That feature isn't exclusive to WMC's codebase anymore. Separate cockpit model support has been added since November.

Thanks guys!  I didn't realize that I had an old build.
