Hi,
I've been playing the FSPort with FS2_Open and unfortunately I'm unable to finish the Enter the Dragon mission because I don't get the Advanced Disruptor weapon (in fact none of the fighters get any weapon). I've installed FS2_Open with Turey's installer and haven't messed with anything. I've also seen other complaints about the issue but nobody suggested a working solution. Is there any solution to this problem that works ?
-
Did you switch campaigns and/or mods midway through playing? That's a no-no.
-
Sounds very much like a corrupt pilot file. There is only one known fix: creating a new pilot. And most likely you will have to start over since the pilot might cause problems in later missions as well. Of course, if someone was to cook up a campaign file for you where you start from Enter the Dragon, things would be less painful.
Now, I do hope you haven't been switching mods. Doing that in the middle of a campaign is pretty much the best way to corrupt your pilot files.
-
Well, duh I did change a campaign once... After finishing the FS2 campaign I thought I might as well do FS1...
Oh well... My scores in the earlier missions weren't so good, so I'll just create a new pilot. Thanks for the tip. I think you should mention this in the Wiki or sth, because noobs WILL catch on this once in a while...
-
So you switched campaigns after finishing the main FS2 campaign ? All the way to the supernova of capella?
Then it shouldn't be an issue.
-
Same problem here. I have done no capaign switching. 3.6.9 i think. Just downloaded it today so it should be all the newest files. I have cloned my pilot every few mission as it keeps crashing on my pc. hopefully one of the clones will work... I really hate replaying stuff.

Run a debug build. Post fs2_open.log from \freespace2\data\ either as an attachment or using the "code" tags.
-
umm, how do i do that? I'm going to try
"fs2_open_3_6_9_debug" is that right?
Also, I may have done some campaign switching after all. I started the game with the fs1 mod selected but not the campaign. It didnt work properly, then found out I had to pick the campaign. Would that mess it up? Anyway, ill post the log in a few minutes. The game keeps crashing too. I know this isn't really the place to post it, but can you tell me if you spot anything about that in the log too. cheers.
-
ok, well that didnt even run. crashed and gave me this. I atatched the log file too.

:wtf:
Searching root 'C:\free 5pace open\'
Searching root pack 'C:\free 5pace open\root_fs2.vp'
Searching root pack 'C:\free 5pace open\sparky_fs2.vp'
Searching root pack 'C:\free 5pace open\sparky_hi_fs2.vp'
Sweet merciful crap! You're missing a ton of FS2 files. You should have the following retail .vp files in your root FreeSpace folder:
* root_fs2.vp
* sparky_fs2.vp
* sparky_hi_fs2.vp
* stu_fs2.vp
* tango1_fs2.vp
* tango2_fs2.vp
* tango3_fs2.vp
* smarty_fs2.vp
* warble_fs2.vp
Furthermore,
Searching root pack 'e:\root.vp'
Searching root pack 'e:\data\cbanim.vp'
Searching root pack 'e:\data\freespace.vp'
Searching root pack 'e:\data\voc.vp'
What are these and why on Earth are they on e:\?
-
I have these in the root folder-
* root_fs2.vp
* sparky_fs2.vp
* sparky_hi_fs2.vp
But none of the others. I dont wish to play fs2 at this time, so only downlaoded the stuff the installer said I needed for fs1. I have really small harddisks, so I didnt download stuff that I was told I didn't need. Nothing seemed to be missing from the game apart from the weapons.
"What are these and why on Earth are they on e:\?"
E:\ is my dvd drive. It has a freespace 1 cd in it. But why its reading anything from there, I have no idea. Think taking the disc out would help? I'm going to try it.
-
Taking the CD out won't do any harm. But it's not the reason for your errors. Keep in mind that FSPort is a mod for FS2. A modification. You can't run just the modification itself. You need the original game. You need the FS2 files. Run the Installer again and make sure you select to download FS2.
-
I understand what you say about it being a mod. I have just run the installer. The parts of fs2 i didnt install are voice, music, tech animations, and command briefing animations. I really cant see why this would cause problems with weapons. The "freespace 2 retail core" IS installed. I guess thats what you mean? As I said I may have messed up my pilot without realising, so I'm going to make a new one.
-
Is your Freespace Open in a separate folder to your Freespace 2 (Retail) stuff?
-
my fs2 stuff is in
C:\freepace open
my fs port stuff is in
C:\freepace open\fsport
My problem may well be fixed, I've been too busy with other stuff to play far enough to find out.
-
Well, I got past enter the dragon, everything seemed to be working. Now I cant complete evengelist because the tsunami bomb is missing. ANy ideas? I really dont want to have to start again- AGAIN! I have absolutly deffintly not done anything to mess my piolt file up this time.
-
Hmm. Weird.
