Title: Freespace 1 Error?
Post by: Mouthworsh on July 15, 2008, 05:36:23 pm
I got really nostalgic for FS so i decided to reinstall my old game, and its every bit as good as when i first played it.

However when i finish the Clash of the Titans mission, the Bastion gets to the warp gate and instead of jumping away just keep flipping end over end for hours. I left it on to see if it would stop and it has been doing it for 3hr 42 min

Any thoughts?

Are you referring to FreeSpace 1 itself, or the FreeSpace Port?

I get this with the Mecross in the Vasuda evac mission. (on FSP)

Sounds like he is using retail.

That happens every once in a while when a capital ship manages to overshoot its waypoint somehow.  Sometimes you get lucky, and it manages to contort and flip itself back to where it needs to be...and other times, you're just stuck.  My only advice is to try replaying the mission.

This, if any, is a good moment to promote the wonders of FSO and FSPort. Purdier graphics, new game engine features, less issues with newer computers and so on. And the easiness of installing: just use Turey's FSO Installer (link in my signature, as well as a manual), which downloads everything you need.

As for the problem, yeah, that happens occasionally. If waiting doesn't help, replay the mission.

the warp gate
Now, this is just blasphemy. It ain't a tractor, it's a Yamaha. It ain't a gate, it's a node. A point in space. There's exactly one type of gate in FreeSpace and that would be the Knossos.

Yes i know its a node, but i have found that if you blaspheme you tend to get more responses  :D

You do have a point there...

But we still need to know if you`re using FreeSpace 1, FreeSpace 2 Retail, or SCP to know what to do in your case.
