Hi! I've been playing the retail campaign for a week now, but I got stuck with some issues that I'll explain now:
1st - i've downloaded the retail OGG-cutscenes from one of the threads but they aren't playing at all... is there something that I must do apart from copying the file to c:/Freespace??
2nd - Im stuck in the last mission, freespace crashes when the supernova counter is supposed to appear, really dont have a clue about this one as it doesn't send any kind of message, it just closes on me..
Im using:
3.6.9 build
3.6.10 Media vps
features:
C:\Games\FreeSpace2\fs2_open_3_6_9.exe -mod mediavps10 -spec -glow -env -jpgtga -mipmap -nomotiondebris -2d_poof -noscalevid -missile_lighting -cache_bitmaps -dualscanlines -targetinfo -orbradar -rearm_timer -ballistic_gauge -ship_choice_3d -3dwarp -warp_flash -snd_preload -alpha_env -ambient_factor 0 -no_emissive_light -spec_exp 11 -spec_point .6 -spec_static .8 -spec_tube .4 -ogl_spec 80
When running with debug right after opening i get this:
Warning: EFF: No frame images were found. EFF, SbeamAglow.eff, is invalid.
File:c:\temp\fs2_open_3_6_9.t\code\bmpman\bmpman.cpp

and on mission:
Warning: Couldn't fix up turret indices in spline path
Model: science01.pof
Path: $path04
Vertex: 0
Turret model id:16
This probably means that the turret was not specified in the ship table(s).

No error pops up when the mission crashes, It just comes back to the main hall.
-
The thing is, the errors aren't the special feature of debug. Run debug, and upload \data\FS2_open.log. Click "Additional Options" under your post.
-
3.6.9 with the 3.6.10 VPs? Can you do that? Thought you had to use a 3.6.10 build for the 3.6.10 VPs?
-
I've runned the game before on debug but there's no FS2_open.log in Freespace\Data.. though Ive found an fs.log in \Freespace wich seems to have some kind of error messeges:
Could not create debris, no more slots left
message 'sun explode' with invalid head. Fix by assigning persona to the message.
Got event GS_EVENT_EMD_CAMPAIGN (59) in state GS_STATE_GAME_PLAY (2)
Unloading in mission messages
Storing stats now
MOVIE ERROR: Unable to open movie file 'endpart1.mve' in any supported format.MOVIE ERROR: Unable to open movie file 'endprt2a.mve' in any supported format.Got event GS_EVENT_MAIN_MENU (0) in state GS_STATE_END_OF_CAMPAIGN (45)
Ill upload this file here as is the only one that seems to have some kind of relevant info.
There's another one "errorlog.txt" but does not seem to be what you are looking for.
If Im supposed to run again the debug and the mission then search for that file let me know please.

If your using the 3.6.10 VPs try using a recent 3.6.10 exe. There's one in Cole's sig. Man I need to do a new sig one of these days.
-
just tryed with a new build and all went smoothly, no movies yet but I got the supernova drill.
tnks fubar & cole
Ill go try again the campaign in hard ^^

Depends. If the oggs are packed into a vp, \freespace2\ will do. Actually, if they're just ogg files, they should also work in \freespace2\ but you could also move them to \freespace2\data\movies\. And do remember that OpenGL is good and Direct3D is evil.
-
Depending how old your download is... There used to be a problem with the filenames. IIRC one of the packs had endpart2a instead of endprt2a. Though if the part1 is problematic as well then the problem is most likely elsewhere
-
That problem affected the MVEs not the OGGs. BUt yeah it is worth checking which you have, separate .mve files or a single .vp with oggs in it.
-
Now that you have 3.6.10, run the debug version (you have to select it at the top of the launcher) and post the log.
-
I'll try downloading it again , when I opened the OGGcutscenes.vp file it was empty though it was 201MB large.
-
when I opened the OGGcutscenes.vp file
... with what?
it was empty though it was 201MB large.
:wtf: I have the ogg cutscenes in a non-vp form and they take 251mb. FS1 ogg cutscenes seem to take 221mb.
So yes, might be a corrupt file in that case.
-
Yes, 251 MB... it was a corrupted file.
I opened it with vpview32, after downloading it a second time with the installer the file shows the movies, tested it and its working now, tnks people
