Not at this time.  I believe there are plans to bring back that ability but it will be awhile.  Get FS2_Open you can play online with it and it's better.  Alternatively you can still play retail via IP.

Just get FS2_Open.

If you`re concerned about performance issues or whatever, you won`t need to actually get the graphical enhancements.

Download the Suggested 3.6.10 build from my signature, and Launcher 5.5d. In the Multiplayer forum read the calendar, and the setup FAQ. Have fun.

Get the Suggested 3.6.10 build from my signature (you'll need 7-Zip (http://7-zip.org) to open it) and run the debug .EXE (select it with the launcher). load a mission, and then exit the game Post the fs2_open.log that you'll find in \data.

whenever i try to run the debug, i get an error saying OpenAL32.dll could not be found

OpenAL32.dll could not be found
Install OpenAL (link in my signature). If that doesn't help, uninstall and reinstall OpenAL according to the instructions on this thread (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,48621.0.html).
