Hi
My ISP hosts the retail ISOs which I downloaded and I was wondering if I can save some bandwidth by using these in combination with Turey's installer?
Thanks

Yes, it would save bandwidth for the installer. I`d go for it.
-
Thanks for the response Fenrir! So do I install from the retail ISOs and then use Turey's installer?
-
Yups. Be sure to install to a directory like C:/games/FreeSpace2/ since installing to the desktop or my documents or something like that will mess things up. Once you install it, just follow the instructions for the FS2_open installer.
-
Yep. Until Turey and ShivanSPS came along the standard procedure for installing FSO was to install retail and then add FSO into the same folder. That's basically all Turey's installer does.
Make sure you copy the .mve cutscenes from CD2 and CD3 into your main FS2 folder (or make a Data\Movies for them if you want to be neat). Doing that means you can uncheck the ogg cutscenes box for FS2 as well.

Awesome. Thanks guys.

I think I'm screwed. The 16 bit installer doesn't want to run under Vista x86. Originally got an error message about dosx.exe missing. Resolved that but now the installer just terminates without doing anything.
Any ideas or will I just run Turey's installer and get the lot from the net? Any way to point it at the local content?
-
Uh, dunno. Right click on the CD drive under My Computer, and click "Explore". Open Setup.EXE.

If that fails make a folder called FS2 and copy any files from this picture into it. Then run the online installer. It will still save you time most likely as at least some of the VPs will be there.
