and pirates using state-of-the-art tech? and anyway, which all recourses and industry focused on a long war with the Vasudans, then suddenly almost facing annihilation... ...GTA would not tolerate Piracy for long.
Yeah, when I put pirates in my campaign I wasn't overly excited by it either. Fits in something like X-wing and Tie Fighter, which I made missions for when I played 'em. But seems odd having pirates in lokis and so forth. I think I tried to put the ole Avenger in there to give them some ****ty tech but I had problems so screw it.
But for any sort of peace time mission what you can do? The player'll get bored if he does like 10 scanning missions in a row (not to mention the FREDDer will get bored, and I don't I friggin know!).
Yeah, necrothreadagged, whatever, who gives a ****.

Meh, we both posted in a thread 3-4 months old, the difference is my post was actually vaguely relevant to the topic.
Don't see the issue with responding to an old question that's only 5 posts down in a forum that's somewhat lacking in activity. Or would you rather I posted a "ST:R is seriously dead, i haven't seen a new screenshot in two days! omg! Prove me wrong"

Necrothreading ternds to be OK ass long as something is added to a conversation and it's not so old that half the contributors on the thread have left.
-
If it's on the first page, it's fair game.

When you say that, Black Wolf, are you referring to bumping threads like those stored under Classics?
-
those are locked though.
-
I know. I'm just using them as examples. If they were unlocked and necro'd, is that an offence?
-
They're locked for a reason.
Namely so that people wouldn't necro them.

Oh this thread, I don't recall posting any thread about pirates. I'm guessing that due to the favourite faction thread someone's trying to stimulate a discussion on pirates? (hence the threadsplit) So go ahead everyone, talk about pirates. Yarrr.
Arrrr, ye matey: (pros)
-Pirates can give the player combat in peacetime
-or just provide low level combat in prelude to a larger war?
-be a logical enemy in any civilian based campaign? (even if they're corporate sponsored mercs)
Narrrr, ye blimey:(cons)
-pirates only appear in one mission of Silent Threat, widespread piracy has no basis in canon
-most user-made campaigns have pirates not acting like pirates? (not trying to steal cargo, just warp in and dying).
-don't fit the flavour of Freespace
Anyone else?

Why is the Volition Bravos a pirate ship?
/me looks at the AJ Androgeos and sees it as a larger, upscale, purple version of the Volition Bravos.
-
The bad thing about pirates is that they act more like Shivans flying old crap.
-
Depends on the pirate ;7

You'd fly like a drunk Shivan, I'm sure.

You'd fly like a big poo poo head no doubt...... :p

I'd just set the difficulty to Very Easy. :ha:

Never thought of that :drevil:
Where would you bas e your pirate base?
-
Whatever you do, a Deimos and multiple fighter and bombers will jump in, pulverise you all, and depart. Courtesy of the GTVA.
-
The GTVA would murder anyone they suspected of piracy?

The GTVA would murder anyone they suspected of piracy?
Well, if it's anything like the British government... Yeah.
-
They'd probably already have SOC or other agenst inside your little illegal organisation, so don't you worry- they'd have all the proof they need to introduce you to BGreens.
-
Until you find out you were just manipulated by a rival gang.
-
The SOC spends most of its time infiltrating pirate gangs?
-
Snipes has AGA (acute grog addiction) it's the only way the SOC can keep him sated and "upright" without grog Snipes decends into nonsencichal rants about how his dad never loved him and it drove him to enlist etc....
-
Has anyone tried to park Volition Bravos in front of a Sathanas before? The results are what you expect.

"not so old that half the contributors on the thread have left."
Use common sense and we'll all be fine. :)

Pirates are the best
-
no, ninjas are.
-
No matter. Neither could defeat Chris, the Ninja Pirate.
-
what about Steve, the pirated ninja?

Time to finish that Pirates and Campaign Design essay...

Yeah, that's a very good article, better than the BoE article anyway. :P

Actually, I think it's a rather bad one personally. Which is why I'm doing something very different.

Considering piracy or privateering was essentially sponsored by the British Empire that's one of the more inaccurate statements I've ever seen.

No I'm using the past tense. Hence was . . . sponsored
Someone's obviously crying because tv-links.co.uk got taken down. Boo hoo, who cares. God forbid someone has to actually buy something once in their life.

I still like The Pirate Bay's logo...

Then that's like saying the USA is just a bunch of primitive Indian wannabes.
