Title: Jutland
Post by: Scooby_Doo on July 30, 2008, 01:06:02 am
As requested a version of the TCS Jutland, it's not complete but close enough for a rendering.

Please note, this is NOT the jutland class found in the novels and in standoff nor sagas, although pieces of it were used along with the concordia (at cic), my midway, victory, tiger claw and aurora classes.  [non-canon]This newer Jutland class is designed to replace the aging and expensive Vesuivus class carriers. [/non-canon]

Looks like you have some smoothgroup errors on the smaller rear thrusters.  Looking good otherwise

WOW Scooby! I really must learn to FRED better, that way I can really get stuck into doing something with these! It would be the quickest way to see these in action instead of waiting for someone else to put up a mission or campaign. Are these Official WCSaga models?

Hmm, looks nice

...though somewhat like the Concordia from WC2 with the main gun replaced by some hangars, doesn't it ;) (nothing bad about that :) ) .

Well the jutland does look quite a bit like the Confederation class minus the big gun and bridge placement.  What was the other class that looks a bit like it, the Tarawa?

That old bird, is sweet as a nut

Can't wait for textured, semi-final release, well any sort of zip to be honest ;D

Yep :) - though to my knowledge that was the name of the ship, not the class. Am not 100% sure, though...

:mad2: Jutland Class CVA's are slowly replacing the aging concordia clas fleet carriers..

(fr0m the desk if Tolwyn circa 2300'something)

Sure - but Scooby explicitly said that this is story-wise NOT the same Jutland as the one in WCS (though I like that model, too :) ). Scooby has his own personal storyline for the ships he's showing/releasing in the general modding forum, as far as I can see  (and as every modder should have the right to, except if doing something for a large project)   -   and don't get too angry with me... I like WC, but I don't exactly want to drown myself in the canon... :nervous:

He said it would be something to replace the Vesuvius-class  (erhm, was that really the name of the class? )  , and I thus wondered why such a new ship should be looking that much like the old Concordia  (the ship - Confederation class or something, like Scooby stated right above)  -  not to say I wouldn't like it, was just wondering how he wanted to explain this...

 Don't worry.i'm not angry. You gotta read back through the thread, it does give the impression that the discussion referred to Canonological factual stuff.......

For the canon Jutland (the circa 2300), you'll have to wait for Saga to get released  :)

As far as I know, canon-wise, the Vesuvius was the class name (Vesuvius, St Helen, Eisen).  I thought i read there was 6 of them (or was that midway class?).

There made a small change to the original post :D

Uhh, I like quite several of his models, but I'm not actually too eager calling me a "fan"   ( FS has very long been my favourite game, but still I don't like that term... :nervous: ).

But then, what if I'm actually one of those sometimes annoying Devilray pilots? :mad2: :D
( had a great shoot-out with one in WCP [after starting from that installation], was one of my favourite moments in the entire game... :) )
Or maybe even piloting a Dragon? (by the way, I like charging guns - Wasp flies better then Vampire for me :) )
Honestly, I didn't yet find a side in WC that I were too eager to support [uh, wait, there were those... what were they called who sent the probe & scout in Privateer 1? ...ah, that's it, "Steltek" - good that there's the CIC ship database :) ], while for FS... check my sig and guess who's staring at you ;) .

It's just that I've played through nearly every WC-game so far    (except SWC, WC1SM2 :( and Priv2; and WC4 only about 2/3 so far [edit: I forgot that I hadn't internet in time for WCPSO, and also that I got stuck story-wise somewhere during Privateer 1 Righteous Fire] --- oh, and that here's actually me...: look at the Raptor vs. Kilrathi (http://www.wcnews.com/standoffscores/pilot.php?id=4789) :) - I'd continue, but since installing chapter 4, I can't get to the settings to set my name... Well, crappy Windows install propably, didn't yet have the time to take care of that :( [edit: FINALLY fixed... and all that was needed was some DLL - stupid me...] )    and thereby assembled some knowledge... :)

I love the Black Lance  i always considered them to be a sub-division of Confed kinda like soc with autonomy.

Back on topic i'm happy(ish) to wait for Saga. It's all i can do so i accept it
Title: Re: Jutland
Post by: Mav on August 03, 2008, 05:45:14 pm
Uh, well I don't exactly like the Black Lance story-wise... After reading the books, I understand somewhat why Tolwyn (the character, not our forums-member) got pissed off about the Confed; but I'd say he PRETTY much overreacted...

About what one can do... now that I've gotten Standoff back on-line (see edits above) , the next things to do WC-wise would be installing Saga prologue (yeah, shame on me... :nervous: :) ) and getting WCPMP to work for me (it even has a scoreboard now, great  ) .

But I'd guess I'll also see to some FS and TA stuff that remains to be done by me :sigh: - Not to mention RLTM, of course...  :nervous:

Too many acronyms....
Black Lance rule. That's all there is too it. Tolwyn did the best for the Confederation. I'd stand by him if i got an F107-Lance with no restrictions ;7

The details are pretty cool and I like the bridge/forward controle room? part. What I don't get is what these winglike things left and right from the main structure are. Bussard intakes?
Title: Re: Jutland
Post by: Scooby_Doo on September 17, 2008, 05:05:19 am
If your referring to the last pic, those two towers are just towers, with lots of windows, (crew quarters? bar? bowling alleys?).  The bussard intakes are on the wings way at the back of the ship.  Not exactly sure what the central front tower is, could be a secondary/third bridge   The main bridge would be on the Hades piece farther back.

This doesn't look like a model meant for being in-game, but rather a model for making a animation.

It's been done as a favour, i requested a Jutland a while back. And Scoobs other models arae equally detailed...

It reminds me of WC2 Concordia.
It's awesome and would be really good as either fleet carrier or a dreadnought (like Concordia).
