Circuit City headquarters has ordered their stores to "destroy all copies" of the latest issue of Mad Magazine, according to an anonymous tipster. The retailer apparently isn't amused by the 4-page spoof of "Sucker City." Inside, Mad's 1-page preview and headquarters' response.
I don't really care about what circuit ****ty did. It's awesome what mad magazine did. Check this **** out

I'm surprised circuit ****ty didn't try to slap a lawsuit on Mad instead. Usually that's because big dumb corporations seem to be doing that these days for anything rather small.
-
-
Because in this age of instant global communications, the best way to make something go away is to order all hard copies destroyed.
-
Well, I can certainly understand them not wanting to sell this particular issue of the magazine in their own stores, and what else are you gonna do with a gigantic shipment of magazines?

Something less dramatic. Infact it might have been smarter to just leave it be...too many corporations try and clamp down on something and it completely blows up in their face. This hilarious ad will now be posted on dozens of forums, news groups, and other communities across the internet. If it has staying power then YouTube videos are next.
If they had done nothing then it'd have passed along as surely as the wind.

I like how they have a map graphically detailing that circuit city is across the street from best buy. i especially like what's in the white box at the bottom of the page. That's just great.
-
If they hadn't ordered all copies destroyed, this wouldn't have been internetted. Well done Circuit City!
Kudos to the PR exec tho. (http://consumerist.com/5032889/circuit-city-sorry-for-commanding-employees-to-destroy-mad-mags-sucker-city-parody)

In a way this makes me respect Circuit City more.
-
As a gesture of our apology and deep respect for the folks at MAD Magazine, we are creating a cross-departmental task force to study the importance of humor in the corporate workplace and expect the resulting Powerpoint presentation to top out at least 300 pages, chock full of charts, graphs and company action plans.
:wtf:
-
It's a joke.
-
Yeah, I posted too soon, before I had read the next paragraph. :D
-
Funny thing is that if you look at the picture only a couple of jokes are directly aimed at Circuit City anyway. Unless Circuit City commonly hand out flyers like this in the US and other companies don't this could easily have been Best Not Buy (although that's not as funny).
-
It really looks like something maddox (http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.com) would do.

Yeow! All I've ever done in PowerPoint was to do a thirteen-page presentation that took up 429MB of hard drive space!
Speaking of which, have any one of you seen a video called Big Bill Hell's on YouTube?

2. Bear breaks into Circuit City, Has as much luck in finding a employee as you do

No, because Maddox would have brought up his non-exaggerated manhood. :p
---------
I loathe CircuitCity with every fiber of my being.

An electronic parts store that only sells cell phone and satellite contracts.
-
It was an old electronics store, sold stuff like RC cars/planes, clocks, cameras, PCs, whatever.
-
sounds like it could have filled a nitch in the small towns...
-
Nah, it was a mall store, I never saw one out of a mall.

Up here it's not a mall store.
-
I've seen plenty of them outside malls.
-
Really? That's the only place I've seen them, but like NH said, it would fit that niche.
-
I've usually seen them on strip-malls, though, they only sell analog cables (500% markup), cellphone accessories (1000% markup), and one (1) type of RF Modulator (3 crummy ports, and a 5000% markup).
