The altered chips were then passed as genuine by passport reader software used by the UN agency that sets standards for e-passports.'"

ID theft will be easier than ever.

i have a friend who has a saying "you make a problem out of nothing you will end up with nothing" it perfectly fits this stupidity.

On a side note, I'd really hate to be caught with a "genuine" British passport for Osama Bin Laden. Just imagine trying to explain that.
