I don't know of any off the top of my head. Not even sure if the download still works, but anyone is free to if they wish to :)

Don't have any pictures around at the moment, but I've managed to re-upload the zip file for the model itself.

Hmm ... that's odd.  In that picture, the two gunpoints are out toward the sided of the fighter, but in Flipsides download, they are much close to the center.

Odd.... maybe I altered it at some point and forgot? Oh well, at least you have two to choose from ;)

Can't get over how iffy that Bump-map is though, glad I've improved in that department at least.

Halt your tongue...........

That was one of the first and still one of the best.

Oh yes, that. Ugly lump.

Considering the bump map was made before bump-map support had been added to the game engine, in any shape or form, I don't think I did that bad a job.

's too Wing Commander-y to fit into most FS mods, although I suppose with a recolor it might sneak into BP or the like.

Also, wanted to add, it's comments like this that stopped me from modding FS2 any more, I created a thread for the models creation:

http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,42786.20.html

People were free to input, if they chose not to, then it was their choice, not mine, but no, some people are happier waiting until the model is finished before throwing insulting comments around. I'm as open to criticism as the next person, but not over a year after the model is finished and released.

This is why you haven't seen a new community model from me in over a year and you are unlikely to again.

Agreed on that respect, the texture is a little too dark compared to most FS2 ships.

Hey, don't take it personally. I can see you spent a lot of time on the mapping and textures, and they look great. I just really dislike the overall form; it doesn't feel like it has any style to it. For what it is, you did a great job. I just wish it was something different.

Fair enough, I'll agree that the shape isn't my own personal favourite either, we live and learn, but just calling it ugly wasn't really very constructive :p

If I did it again, yes, I'd do it differently, but I react a lot better to 'I never much liked the shape of that ship, it's not one I would use.' than 'ugly lump' :)

Plz note that someone liked it enough to warrent them creating a thread asking if any mods had it.

I know, I know :p

Alright, I probably will do more community mods, but when someone kicks my dog, even if it an ugly dog, I defend it ;)

yes, I like it very much. except the normal map that is. it looks like a cheap, easy to mod heavy fighter that would be used by pirates. the shape is supposed to be ugly IMO.

Yup, the normal map was created pre-normal map support on the SCP, and wasn't done particuarly well. That is something I might drag out at a later date and improve upon :)

To be honest I've found most forum input on my other model to be a waste of time. Most people weren't telling me anything I didn't already know. And in some ways it was just fishing for praise on my part. I've learned from past experience that the most flattering thing in terms of models is to have someone actually use them in their campaign (though I've not finished any models yet, but I've done 'mods' for other forms of gaming). But your mileage may vary. Can't say I've encountered this in any campaign yet, though there are lots out there I havent played.

The forums great for tech questions though, since I don't know jack about most things.

Sometimes the input can be useful, if you're fishing for compliments, then HLP isn't really the place to do it as you yourself have no doubt learned, but, for example, on the Azaes thread, I got quite a lot of helpful input from people about what direction to take with details etc.

Whilst it's true that the basic concept of the model should be in place before you present it to the 'public', I actually find input from other modders very useful, Vasudan Admiral, for example has some excellent ideas, he was 13 when he joined Twisted Infinities, and now, he could model me under the table, so I always listen to advice, and discuss things with people who I respect.

I suspect that's why I was a bit hurt by GE's comment, since he's another Modder who's advice I consider to be of importance.

Who was it. That had concept art for an Apollo advance, as well as many nice pre-vis artwork samples. . . Damn that was sexy.
