Title: Campaign resumed...
Post by: Al Tarket on August 20, 2008, 12:34:41 pm
my campaign based off the raiders war in part, but the problem stopping me advancing further is this dds format, i can not find any useful program around that saves in this format.

so if someone can point me in the direction of a free software that saves in this extension, would be helpful. EAS Midway will be here soon :nervous:

http://developer.nvidia.com/object/nv_texture_tools.html
a little tough to use, since it is command line based, but the best converter out there.
use the -quality_highest command line.

ive used DOS and Linux command line before, it should be no different however i will need to test what i just said.

EDIT:uh oh... lol i dont have adobe. just confusing this dos format thing. i will see the other links provided on that link page of yours.

i look around again, unless my 3870 agp card has turned into a evga or bfg 280 pci-e i do not think i will be able to use some of these programs.

ok, i have abandoned the nameplate for the Midway. 2 missions of 3 in a demo campaign which i will release as soon as i have got it done, the background is done but i need a little idea magic to come my way.

expect that campaign out by maybe 25-28th guaranteed give or take power cuts or otherwise having a heart attack, and so on.

1. it doesn't matter what graphics card you use.
2. just run the program with no lines, it will display all the command lines for you, you don't need to open the .pdf.

someone should make a free program that is not half as useless as nvidia's example for dds conversion. i mean one that can actually be used in windows that isn't complex.

if only irfanview used dds save extension, after it reads dds format..

just because you don't know how to use it doesn't make it useless.
It produces the best dds quality I have seen so far. it easily defeats the gimp and photoshop plugins as well as paint.net's stuff.
if you want to use paint.net, then fine, but don't say that nvidia tools are useless.

hehe sorry for slamming the program, if you or i can not find any real use for a program we don't understand it will be called useless or cursed at, bet your no angel in that respect either.

demo campaign is almost done, the events need to be completed. however it's missing some voice acting. if i pass it along to someone who can gather a few people together to do some voice acting of the parts played and if needed edited a few parts that are not a handful to say.

entirely optional parts:

Adimral Tahaio Yuakmura - male
(De)briefing officer EA - male/female
(De)briefing officer CR - male/female
Alpha 2 Pilot - male
Alpha 3 Pilot - female
Beta 1 Elite - female
Beta 2 Newbie - male
EAS Reagan Captain - male
Raider Ops officer - male
EAS Sentinel officer - male
EAS Fornax Commander - male
NR J'Carr Captain - male
Drazi CR Fiiasal 2 - male
Pak'Ma'Ra CR Fiiasal 3 - male/female
CR Zeborrah Captain - male/female
Raiders CR Garbi'Ti - male
Zebaan 1 - male/female
Michael Garibaldi - male

pal, I seriously doubt anybody will go through the painfull process of gathering your voice-actors for you, especially since no one but you is involved in this project.

Yep there's a sub-forum for getting voice actors.
I'll take Alpha2 nothing less :nervous:

There's one part less to worrry about.

Al Tarket. There's an "appeal for voice actors" thread elsewhere in this forum. Look there and you will find many people willing to voice act. You can contact them by Personal Message here on Hard Light Productions. Dekker is correct. Nobody will arrange voice acting for you. But, it is quite easy. Just ask people to send you the sound samples, and put them into your missions.
