Title: [MAC] Graphical Glitches after installing

Hi All!

I just did a complete install of freespace on my mac, using the Java Installer.

I am experiencing graphic glitches, as some models are missing (or some parts), space debris are just big white dots, nebulas and sun do not have transparency (so you see a black box behind the sun or behind the nebula), some 3D models do not load on ship selection and on weapon selection and I have a white box instead of some text, and a green box in the hud, where the model of the targeted ship should appear...

any idea on this? I am using a Mac with leopard.

last summer I had FS installed on Tiger, and everything was smooth and fine.

Follow the Latest builds for Linux and Mac link in my signature and download the latest stable 3.6.10 build. Run the debug version. Quit. There is now a fs2_open.log in \freespace2\data\. Post it here as an attachment or using the "code" tags.

If you were using the 3.6.9 build, did you remember to enable jpg/tga textures?

Hmm. Well, if there are other 3.6.10 builds that the Installer has downloaded, use one of them. Or even the 3.6.9 debug will do, if things boil down to it.

I have this certain feeling that you should use period (.) with the values instead of comma (,).

Any particular reason why you're running at 640x480 and, more importantly, with 16-bit colours? 1024x768 and 32-bit are a lot more fun.

Not sure if these are related to the issue, but it definitely doesn't hurt to fix them now.

nah, aint that :( perhaps I should download again the .vp, but I hoped that I could avoid it...

about the resolution, my mac is not that powerful... when a cruiser explodes the processor has a hard time!

The MediaVPs are more of a strain than the resolution. So, if there are severe slowdowns, crank up the resolution and don't use the MediaVPs.

For kicks, you could try a regular 3.6.10 build and see if it works.

even without the mediavps and the command line settings it has the same problems.....   well, the ursa looks more like a cardboard box

ok, I tried with the latest media vps 3.6.10... some improvement, but still some models missing, like the GTF Apollo

Not all HTL FS1 ships are included in the MediaVPs (if any). Some of them have to be downloaded separately. FreeSpaceMods is a good place for finding them.

The MediaVPs are more of a strain than the resolution. So, if there are severe slowdowns, crank up the resolution and don't use the MediaVPs.

For kicks, you could try a regular 3.6.10 build and see if it works.

hey, I just tried to put it in the same resolution as my system.... it looks amazing and it's not that slow. :)

I dunno.... when I used the Open Installer with Tiger I didn't have all this problems.... I should have kept a copy of the old FS folder
