Another EOTP ship - the Gladius Class Destroyer; which you already saw shots of in game, now has a really nice CGI model to go with it. Checking in at around 160K polies.
The Gladius is state of the art when the war breaks out and boasts 3, twin barrel mag-cannon turrets, 4 neutron cannons, and 2 particle beams, as well as point defense.

Sorry, but what is EOTP?

:)
Its a sci-fi universe of my creation.

Empire of the Potato-nauts.

Hmmm, interesting.
-
Can we see the weapons?

lawl :)
As for the weapons, according to the design I was handed, you can see them - 1 cannon on each side, fore. 1 on top and bottom, then the shiny tri-angle type things you see with the blueness are the Point Defense.
-
I mean the weapons actually shooting.
-
I like more realistic (although still laughably unrealistic) SciFi.
Although: I don't think neutron cannons are any use. AFAIK only the Uranium & Co elements will split, and then only at the right conditions. Same goes with X-Rays. How the hell will that be useful? (If you would build a photographic plate behind the enemy ship, though... :drevil:)

A directed energy neutron weapon is very useful....
It kills human beings. :)

So it's meant as an Ion Cannon for biological purposes, I see.
That's gotta be a powerful neutron cannon to radiate through all these chunks of armor, though.
-
It's also a question of wavelength, which is why microwaves cannot get through the metal grill in the glass at the front of a microwave cooker ;)
-
Actually a directed energy Neutron weapon is the ultimate mass driver, as there are no electromagnetic forces to hold the neutrons apart. Basically you are firing a very small neutron star at the target. Of course the interaction with the target is also reduced due to the lack of any electromagnetic forces so instead of the damage being a hole in the targets armour, it's damaged armour, crew with burns and electronics failures right through the ship.
As for X-ray weapons, they are just lasers with more energy (and so more damage potential).
-
Yup X-Rays make more sense to me now. My biology teacher told me rays are mostly transformed into heat upon impact, which appearently makes an X-Ray laser a thermic weapon (like lasers are anyway lol.).
-
A high powered laser won't "burn" or "melt" things, instead it will "explosively evaporate" them. In other words it would look and feel like a million small explosives are going off on top of each other as the laser "drills" the target.
-
Most metal will melt before they evapourate. The point is that if the laser has a high enough intensity the liquid will evapourate before it flows away, and that creates a huge pressure wave. X-ray weapons will be a little different because they are not absorbs as fast by the surface layers, and in fact an incorrect choice of armour layer (x-ray absorber below x-ray transparent) could results in huge chunks of armour being blown off. Interestingly, because of the variation in neutron absorbtion, neutron weapons could have this effect as well.
