Title: RELEASE: HTL GTB Claymore (v1.0)
Post by: TrashMan on September 01, 2008, 05:41:40 am
It is done!
(http://img133.imageshack.us/img133/9383/htlclay3sd8.th.jpg) (http://img133.imageshack.us/my.php?image=htlclay3sd8.jpg) <---a tad older image...no glows

4 LOD's, 2 textures (1024x1024 and 256x256), debris, glows, paths, normal maps and shinemaps - the works.

The only thing I can think of to add would be glowmaps and maybe more fire points for the missile launcher

Grab it while it's HOT.

EDIT: Just noticed that the glows are bit on the smallish side...hmmmm

That's TrashMan's Claymore. Heh, I was hoping for it to be the INFR1 HTL Claymore.

Claymore is a the most overused name I can think of. Off the top of my head:

Aldo's First Fighter
INFR1 Claymore
Claymore Mk.2
Scroll of Atankharzim's Claymore
Claymore I (INFSCP)
Claymore II (INFSCP)
Claymore III (INFSCP)
TrashMan's Claymore

Well, I ain't changing it now, especially since:

a) I'm nearly done
b) it is shaped like a claymore
c) I like the name

Almost done. Diffuse, normal and shine maps are ready, as is the model.

Now I have to add lower LOD's, debirs and turrets and convert :D

  Nice!  Looks rather large though, judging by the size of the cockpit...

Oh, it is.
A friggin huge bomber with the biggest anti-capital cannons and rather poor secondary payload (only 1 bank). Has no other primary weapons except for the Redeemer Cannons (slow rate of fire, high energy demand + ammo consumption. Can't carry much) so in a dogfight it has to rely on it's afterburners and 2 turrets.

So what's better as an all round bomber, this or the Armageddon?

Armageddon all the way.
This one is faster and more nimble, but the Armageddon has LOT's more armor, shields, turrets and a MASSIVE secondary capacity + he also has 2 Redeemer Cannons.

The Claymore has 8 Redeemers, which is a helluvalot of firepower, but 2 Redemmers + Judgment Day torps >> 8 Redeemers..

The Claymore will eat anything smaller for lunch, including destroyers.
The Armageddon eats Sathanases for breakfest. But good luck getting it to land on those tiny destroyer fighterbays. Carriers and starbases are the only things that can carry it.

But the Armageddon isn't a bomber... its a..... a....

The normal maps look a bit weird to me. Like the panels, don't really look like panels, instead they look more like the details on a plastic model? Like an indentation from a mold?

If you concur however, I don't know how to fix them. As I know crap about texturing let alone normal maps.

Could be the shinemap that gives it a more of plastic rather than metallic feel.

Anywayz, it's done.

Shielded mini-cruiser with torpedo launchers?

Cool. Well it looks pretty sweet regardless.
On a completely unrelated note, I really like those two HoL ships you did, the Mefdef and the Defiler. Though the Defiler reminds me a little too much of Starcraft for some reason. Two of the better Vasudan ships I've seen.

Anyone know a good alternative to Crazybump?

Assuming you haven't isntalled anything, You can simply do a system restore to before you installed crazybump, and then simply reinstalling the trial version will work.

System Restore? That's a bit drastic, isn't it?
