I sort-of asked this some time ago but I don't want to bring back necro threads so I'll just start a new one.
FSO has this limit to the number of projectiles flying at any one time, any more than this and both projectiles and ships will suddenly just noclip and not hit things at all. The more projectiles over the limit, the more obvious it gets.
What was the limit again? 250 projectiles? 300?
Could this figure be increased, like, waaaaaay higher? Also, how badly would it tax a user's system? :doubt:

There aren't too many details on this, but I do recall reading this Mantis report (http://scp.indiegames.us/mantis/view.php?id=1467) indicating the limit is about 350. It also looks like they're working on improving the behavior of this issue for future builds, but there's no specific word I've seen on when / if this will be implemented yet.

Bug filed last year with an update in May? I guess I'm not the only one out there trying to recreate cinema with guns firing all over the place... but then again it's no wonder why games like X3 lag when you have a lot of action. :mad:
And the limit increased to 1000 is still not enough?! :eek2:
As it is, my current test mission has only 1 Fenris, 1 Aten and 13 fighters (incl. player), which isn't BoE, but both cruisers are shooting each other like no tomorrow... and the bug is very noticeable. (Or rather I have too many test missions and not one "serious" mission... and all show the problem...)
