Ok ive just started playing freespace again after a long break, but i find that on my Vista computer running FS2 Open still only gives me stock standard graphics even with all the features ticked. On my older XP computer it worked fine, but with Vista it wont. I used Tureys Installer and i have the 3.6.9 version with all the necessary media Vps. And the launcher is v 5.5c
Heres my system info:
AMD Athlon 64 Processor 4000+ 2.4GHz
1022MB of RAM
32 Bit Windows Vista
NVIDIA GeForce 6600
And my command lines thingys in the launcher:
C:\Games\FreeSpace2\fs2_open_3_6_9.exe -spec -glow -env -jpgtga -nomotiondebris -2d_poof -missile_lighting -cache_bitmaps -dualscanlines -orbradar -rearm_timer -ship_choice_3d -3dwarp -warp_flash
EDIT: I also tried running in compatibility mode and as an administrator, but no luck

Ummm. Go to the mod tab and select mediavps to turn on the new graphics.
-

Ok good news is...it opens with the source code logo and i get nice pretty stars, bad news is all the ships have black and white stripes all over them. Ill try get a screenie of it

No need, I know what you mean. Update your video drivers, or try a 3.6.10 build.
-
Ok the driver update did the trick. Works perfectly now. Thanks

Oh, I think I'll just unsticky the Thread About This Very Subject (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,53110.0.html) on the Support board. Since no one with the issue ever reads it. Or even bothers to post on the Support board...
-
Just leave it stickied, imo. You wouldn't know if it helps, because if it works they have no reason to post about it.
-
... The point being that they post about it. That's why it seems that it doesn't do its job right.
I'm planning on doing some overhaul concerning the sticky threads on the board, but won't do it right now, since I gotta take a nap before I go to work tonight.

It's not that big of a deal. People who don't take the time to post or read in the right place are spending more of their time than it probably takes someone to copy and paste a link to the solution, or to type out the right answer. The important thing is that I'm sure it's kept lots of people from even having to post anything at all.
-
... agreed. We'll continue the same way as always, then.
