I have 3 missions ive been working on for a period of 3 years. been mostly touch and go for each month. i feel ive gotten pretty far with most of these. except 1 of them. Dude_02, this one has been probably my most complicated mission so far. im still learning the skills and traits of todays youth in fred making. i would like you guys to try out these missions and give me some feed back, as to what i need to do to complete these missions. (yes i know none of the debriefings are done, im trying to figure out how to work that thing). Dude_02 i expect most feed back on because its the one with the most complicated stuff on it.
"hellfire escort" Dude_00.fsm/Mission1.fs2(single) is a fsm mission to be played only in single player fs1 and this one works fine in scp fs1. ill provide both. please do not look at the actual mission, i fear you might screw it up just by opening it.
"Convoy run" Dude_01.fsm(multi) is a fs1 mission, play it only in the original fs1, not scp fs1. for some reason in scp fs1 the convoy moves much slower and kills the mission. Plus the ai just do not compare in scp fs1. please do not export this one to scp.
"Rebel capture" Dude_02(multi) is a freespace SCP designed mission play with media vps or regulare fs2 is works on both. this one can be kinda corny hehe, ill work on taking that stuff out.

Yeah a few people still play FS1, but . . . very few. Most people play the FSPort now which is essentially the FS campaign ported over to FS2. You can upload any missions you create here: http://www.freespacemods.net/news.php (http://www.freespacemods.net/news.php)

ya its the fs1 campaign, but... the fs2 ai in fs1 campaign, which are really horrible fighters

I'm not sure that the AI is necessarily weaker in FS2 than FS1. Part of the problem regarding the Shivans is that the player has better guns, and they have better missiles. In FS1 most missiles won't hit worth a damn. And the guns are of course weaker. If you use the port for your missions you can get the old FS1 guns and you can set the AI pretty high until it's good enough for whatever you want. Some fighters seem to have better AI than others as well, though maybe it's more to do with manoeuvrability more than anything else. Like the Dragon tends to be harder to kill than the lumbering basilisk . . .though that's probably more to do with speed.
When you say FS1 SCP you mean the FS Port using FSOpen?? That's not really clear for me.
I know that FS1 is NOT the same as the FS Port. But the Port's what most people play these days.

take the scorpion for example, fight 1 of them on insane, in fsport and fs1, check out the differences, then fight 2 of them in fs1 and fsport. theres a big difference.

the fsport will not work the fsm missions ive provided, they will only work in fs1 proporly, because of speed differences in fs1 and fs1port

This has to do with the "big damage" weapons flag in FS2, which prevents most weapons outside of bombs and capital ship armaments from damaging anything above a cruiser under 10% hull integrity. It doesn't have any relation to the individual strength of primary weapons in either game. :v: wanted to emphasize capital-to-capital combat in FS2, so they ensured that a single fighter wouldn't be able to take down a massive destroyer. Perhaps it wasn't the most realistic means of doing so, but in my opinion, it's still far more realistic than stating that an ML-16 could destroy an Orion.

I haven't touched them, BUT you can use recent FRED builds to convert FSM missions to FSPort missions. There should be an option on the File menu.

i did convert them. dude01 cannot be converted because it messes up the speed of all the units in the mission. ive tried it a thousand times, its the only one that cant be converted to fsport. every other one ive converted

Are the units docked freighters, by chance?
This is a change in behavior between FS1 and FS2. It's fixed in the Port v3.1 (coming soon) if you're running the SCP.

yes there is, about 5 docked freighters, but there not affected. its the terran scince vessels that move much slower in scp than in fs1.
