This thread is for stuff about the next release of my mod.
To start things off, a demo video (Xvid, 4.79 MB):

Animated normal map, and warp code recently committed to trunk by WMCoolmon (I think).
-
Impressive. Though I will never be able to see normal maps... And as I said- the warp effect should be red. Other than that- I like!
-
Hey, it's a tech demo. I might show off it's weapons next.
-
Same ship as video, messing around with environment mapping.

Malia retexture, eh?
I like the idea, but am thinking you could do cooler things with it than just changing the height of some ridges.
-
Animated normal map = win.
makes it look AAAALLLLIIIIIVE!
-
Alive was the goal, but the point was to see if I could get it working. Unfortunately, it's not really obvious unless you're up close. Next thing I want to try is keeping the ridges, but rippling the rest.
In other news, I've been experimenting with modelling ships. I can get geometry into PCS2, but I haven't figured out the best way to texture with the tools I've been using.
Current tools (and stuff I can get my hands on):
- Solidworks 2008
- TrueSpace 7.6
- (Blender - found tutorial on doing renders in blender from solidworks VRML export)
- (Lithunwrap)
Current process:
- Create Assembly in Solidworks
- Export VRML
- Import in TrueSpace
- Define heirarchy with Trueview
- Save scene
- Open in PCS2
Any advice would be appreciated, especially getting point lights and heirarchy (or even textures) to export from solidworks properly.

Normal map test #2:

That could be used for water in the 158th.
-
I could tell you guys how I did it in GIMP if you want. I still haven't really tested how much it affects performance, though.
-
could you upload the trailer to youtube?
-
In my experience, stuff tends to look crap on youtube and fine detail is largely the point of the video. That, and I don't have an account or anything. I recall somebody had uploaded an early meson bomb test video at some point...

creepy...

Coming soon to a command briefing near you:
