Title: *insert interesting title here I'm lazy and tired*
Post by: Warp Shadow on September 10, 2008, 10:09:16 pm
Time for random whatsit.

1. Would it be possible to make a healing gun using stream, FOF and negative damage? Would it still count as treachery if you shot teammates with it?

2. What does $accuracy actually govern? The aim, the firing rate, what?

3. I cannot for the life of me decide on an overall color scheme for my two oldest fighters (my new one I have something in mind) and I don't want to to "grey, grey, black, grey, grey, black, grey, COLOUR, grey, grey". Anyone got any artistic inspirations?

4. What if in BtRL style mods where you don't get tanky recharge shields, hull breaches were near instantly lethal but even the smallest fighter has deflector shields that use a battery by themselves so that they don't regenerate, giving you more total armor but distributed into four sections you can drain and bolster?

I'd need to see the fighters before I can actually say what colors would look good on them

My favorite color-scheme (for lego ships, anyway) is black + blue.

The .rar file has 4 screenies of each ship.

Also lego.

lol, i have the minisub version f the lower right

While we're on the topic of ideas, is it possibles for primaries to have the electronics flag, and can they do splash damage (IE they wash over the ship the got hit by it)

Hey, I had that one. It was so cool. Except it was missing a few tiny parts...

I had 6973 up ther on the right. I had something in the style of 6956 same colours and same little men, but it was a giant two armed robo-thing on wheels....

edit-- And it's head seperated into a cool little shuttle.

That's what the Flak flag is for.

Well I have managed to find out that negetive damage does not infact heal and that shield mechanics are crap because you have an obsolete shield bar in the way. Also I'm still completely lost for artistic motivation. None of those colors look good on my ships.

Also I tried to make a new arc for the HUD but for some reason the game is displaying the bar in a different place then the arc. Actually higher than default too, not lower.

:wakka: :jaw:  I never noticed that before... Bloody Lego stole it lol. That's one thing i never got around to doing with my Lego. I kinda outgrew it beefore WC came along :sigh: lost youth.....

I've actually had all those legos sets before ... and having a healing weapon would make escort missions easier, for sure ... although Command will probably court martial you for firing on friendly ships.

actually funnily enough, they didn't get at me at all for it. I pumped 1200 rounds into alpha 2, did NO damage and no one cared. It did leave the big fire effect though.

I still next fixes for the HUD.

ANd I just had the greatest idea ever for a black hole weapon since negative mass seems to work.

Negative mass on a primary will pull the target towards you. It won't pull nearby ships towards the projectile. Unless you already knew that, and that's the effect you're going for. :nervous:

It works kind of how a grappling hook (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,55819.0.html) might. :drevil:

Actually, red, you're wrong. In Kazan's Unholy Alliance campaign there was a kind of subspace bomb that when it detonated it pulled you toward the blast. Kind of awesome actually.

I got it all figured out dont worry!

The only thing I need now is how to fix my stupid speed guage problem. The guage is in completely the wrong place. It's far too low.

So you made a healing gun ?
Title: Re: *insert interesting title here I'm lazy and tired*
Post by: Aardwolf on September 17, 2008, 03:43:07 am
Well a negative-mass primary will pull the target the way it was coming from (in theory), while a negative force shockwave will pull objects toward the center.

So you're both right.

How exactly does one outgrow Legos? Hell, I know if I had some right now these next five months would go by a lot faster (I'm 19).

Mine's in pieces somewhere. The thing I remember about it is that it was damn fragile.

I probably could rebuild the thing if I was REALLY committed. Which I'm not!
