I think it would have been easier to to say 'Yes. It's for making reams and reams of high-quality, low-budget porngraphy'. A lot of people won't have seen RoadTrip or realise the reference to 'home movies'. Silly, silly boy.
-
Those panoramtechs are nice.
I still think TFT/LCD are absolutely useless for graphics work (or even gaming for that matter) since the response times suck, they cost a bomb and the colour balance is ALWAYS off.

I think that LCD monitors are useless period.:p (for the same reasons you mentioned)

People should be able to know what I mean when I say 'home movies' without having to have seen Road Trip. Hell, I never saw RT and I was the first one to bring it up. :p

You havent seen it? Go, rent it..
Now! Go!

Well boys it's my new income maker.
I have been a TV cameraman for more years than I like to remember. My dad was a film maker and it's only natural that I wold follow in his foot steps. and Yes, it is a motion picture camera.
Don't ask me how much it cost.
it will remind me of my first leasing payment.

It's a verb? lol, and I thought you brits invented the language. :D

Meh. OK monitor, I guess... but gimme a set of 360* glasses, those glove input devices, and a VL chip from the year 2600 anyday. If I'm gonna get a headache from looking at an oversized, midgrade screen, at least I want it in 3D.
And yes, those screens do suck. Seems like practically every large comp screen does. Ever try to read 12 point text in one? Ooooogh.... my eyes... my head...:snipe:
I think I'm the last one on the board to use that smiley. I had to cave someday.
-
youre not the last

Yeah, Thorn's right! I'm the- :snipe:
dammit...:D

Make no mistake, even with stereoscopic vision anybody can handle VR fo a max of 15 mins. My limit is 12 mins, then you'd get nausea and motion sicknes. Been there and done that.
When I lived in Honolulu 3 years ago my room mate there had built the most elaborate and expensive 4 pods VL system ever constructed. He told me he sold it last year to an amusement park in Japan for US$ 750, 000. It ran Quake and UNREAL. and it was really, really great. I tested for him as he was working with the modified software of the game and honestly after 12 mins I had to sit down and breeth deeply or I would have been sick. But the sensation of Quake III on it was out of this world.
Laurent the owner of the company still is a friend. I did most of the 3D graphic and video work you'll see on his website , I lived at his place in perl Harbour for a good 6 months. It was fun!
the installation was in our living room.
:)
take a look at his site, it is incredible.

You don't know...
First off, I was referring to VL- Virtual Light, for those of you who don't read William Gibson (and you people call yourselves geeks? For shame!). Secondly, I get to fiddle around with these sorta technical toys a lot (no VR goggles yet, but I have little interest in current virtual reality anyhow- we've got all this nice ****, why go back to the colored-polygon days just to wear the stuff on yer face?). It's actually less the virtual reality bit than the fact that you've got monitor screens half an inch from your face- I know, I've worn non-VR video glasses and they gave me one ***** of a headache. Advanced screen technology sucks, with the possible exception of some of the things they do with LCDs.
