My first reaction was also "wow! this is simply incredible!" when I saw the beams...;)

I got FS2 early in 2000 (a little late, I know) I was relieved to see that Xwing vs.Tie/Alliance was not the be all and end all of space sims. :nod:

I was 'about freaking time I got this' because I had been busing around the entire damn city it seemed to find a store with it.

I played the FS1 demo that came with my computer, and I actually wanted to buy FS1 before I bought FS2. This was around fall 1999, and Best Buy didn't have FS1, but they did have shiny FS2. I was dissapointed, but I went with 2 anyways. Once the Psamtik arrived and obliterated the Belasarius with it's beam, I was hooked. I mean literally, my jow nearly dropped. I put all thoughts of FS1 behind and tackled FS2 head-on. I later bought FS1 and had a great time, but I think FS2 spoiled me graphically-wise, although FS1 had a better plot IMO.

I said WTF? When I booted up FS2, everything looked box-like and crummy. I found out later I needed to crank the graphics up. :doh:

I played FS 1 and found it a little boring, then I started to look for FS 2 and nothing. Finally, a friend of mine brought a pirate version of the game but it had no ANI's, no cutscenes, no music and no briefing voices so I found it a little boring too. :o

But then, on day, I found a FS 2 original game. You don't belive, it was a month ago! And THEN my first emotion was something like that: "If the introduction don't end soon I'm starting to cry" :p

I got FS1 on a CD cover about two years ago. I loved it so much I did a search on bid site and I boutght FS1, silent threat and FS2 :D then I played FS1 all over again, then silent threat, then I found my PC wasn't powerfull enough to run it with full details, so I forced myself not to play it until I got a better PC and then, joy, pleasure, yeepeekai :D
