The wonderful lad who was making / hosting the site was not seen for two years, and now the site is dead :/
I should have clicked on more ads, I guess.
As for FS1 relevance, it's through Home of the Underdogs I discovered Freespace (and Battle for Wesnoth).

*cries*

I'm pretty sure that that should be 'lass'.
Also, 10:1 it will be back up within a month... under a different domain name, of course.

:wtf: A chick was responsible for HotU?
Well, anything is possible. I just never would have thought of that.

i wont be crying any tears for these fools.. they lost my respect when they decided to ban one person for telling them what they deliberately ignored, until they decided to listen to that person and clean their act up. if this person had to chance to voice their opinion what chance does anyone else have to communicate with these idiots properly? which is why i wasnt surprised when i heard this. thank **** for that!

It would seem as though he missed the part where HoTU has many many excellent old games on it to freely download and use.
-
HoTU is up and down like a honeymoon duvet, I wouldn't worry about it too much :)
-
Yes, actually it s a chick. Sarinee his a first name (she is from Thailand, and a banker - she has a blog she used to write in English, but now it's only in Thaï). My problem is that being a not-native english speaker, I mistook lad for lass.
-
Awright, fair enough.
Starfleet Command III was another appealing gem I found there. Except that there was no (functioning) voice-acting. And F-inSecure claimed the "patch" thing to be a trojan.
-
I hope you're right, Flipside. I haven't been able to access it at all since it has "gone down".
-
It's down?
/me checks the website.
Drat, I can't access it either. :(
And a pity, because they had a working copy of Fire Fight prior to my uploading of a CD image into my Cloud...
-
Seems down alright.

as i said, i wont be crying any tears for these fools. and most of their games where buy at another site rather then downloading, i am unsure as to if it was meant to be like that or through downloading only or what.
good riddance!.

You, gentleman, are a fool.
Just because some (keep in mind, somewhat popular, ergo not so doggy) titles were removed since they were since published, doesn't tarnish the merits of this site in the least.
Now, go into the corner, and contemplate your shame.

It's always been possible to buy Freespace 2 through Amazon etc, would you say 'Good Riddance' to HLP because they made the ISO's available?
-
Wait, I thought AT was a fan of taking (I call it stealing, but whatever) games for free as opposed to buying them? Greedy devs wanting to make money and all...
i dont go for demos, i will see if i can find a full version somewhere.
Maybe he buys all of them later...
On an unrelated note, does this thread serve much purpose?
-
Not really now, no, I left it open for when HoTU was back up, since it can often go down for weeks, but all things considered, it's probably best if I lock it.
