Title: Huh. Insane difficulty isn't as hard as I remember it.
Post by: Socio on September 16, 2008, 04:36:58 am
I remember years ago not even being able to pass the third mission, but I'm now in the 242nd without too much trouble I still have to retry missions sometimes, but usually not more than twice. Seems like the only think I've had to do differently than Medium (skipped Hard) is never charge into enemy fighters and their missiles, jerk around more with afterburners, and actually pay attention to command when they say to lure fighters away from their cap ships.

Yeah, after playing user campaigns, insane difficulty in the retail campaign seems like a walk in the park.

Procyon Insurgency is especially a pain. I mean, who the hell puts a supply depot in the middle of a volatile asteroid field? :D Took me several tries to get past that mission on Insane difficulty...

PI kicked my ass, never did finish that last mission, I gotta throw it on medium or easy and try it out again

You guys should play online a bit. That will sharpen your skills considerably. :D

I think most of the online games are european-based and have hours that are either in the middle of the night or the middle of the workday so are both unfeasible but I could be wrong.

Playing multiplayer is too troublesome.

It is? Aside from setting up the account, it's approximately 0 mouse clicks more than playing a mission from the tech room.

Well, it is to me. The problem is that my family PC that has Internet access can only handle retail-compatible stuff and fred2_open. Most of my playing is done on my Mac, which has no stable Internet connection.

Aye, I do see there be some land lubber o'er nova scotia who may be swabbing some multi-player matches ona saturday night. So perhaps I'll chance an encounter with the other rogues if I can remember it and find me the time to do so.
