Title: Thank you the FSSCP
Post by: cs.norton on September 16, 2008, 05:15:38 pm
I hope this doesn't distract too much from the other threads in this forum, nor that it is placed in the wrong section.  I just wanted to express my gratitude to the people who made the whole thing possible.  I dug Freespace, Silent Threat, and Freespace 2 out of my desk after years and was dismayed to find that Freespace and Silent Threat didn't work on Vista and Freespace 2 worked but terribly (crashes, no video).

After trying everything I was just about to give up and put the games on the shelf for good when I came across this project.  At first I was skeptical but no I see that it has saved my skin.  I can now play my beloved games with cool new graphics and other features.

So, for the record, thank you for the time and effort you have put into this.  I may not know you but right now I'm on cloud 9.  Thank you.

I'm excited to be here.  I hope that I might be able to get involved in some way.

Sincerely,

A very happy gamer.

And no, this isn't the wrong place, we've had threads like this in this section before.

When you're done with the canon campaigns, be sure to check the user made ones too.
Feel free to ask (or use the search function) to find out which mods are a must.

WOW, my first time as an HLP Ambassador...

Bengal, small text must be small.

If you downloaded FSO through Turey's installer, all those campaigns in there are pretty much must plays. Of course, there's TBP, The Babylon Project, for you if you're a Babylon 5 fan.

Virtually every single campaign is a must-play . . . but then the ones in the Installer have no mods included.

Meh, don't dissolve this thread again. :drevil:

If you want some OLD stuff, try Inferno Release 1.

Derelict SCP is my official next "must play" straight after the nova.
Then sync and Transcend. If those last two didn't scare the bejeezuz out of you. Play DEM and the JAD series

Check www.freespacemods.net for a lifetimes worth of extras. (potential catchline?)

"Involved" how? In some capacity that I might want to kidnap you?
 Texturing, coding, gasp... Modeling?  ;7

Where can I find The Blue Planet, I've almost finished Inferno and I've heard a lot about TBP.

Heresy! TBP is The Babylon Project. Blue Planet abbreviates to BP.

And it has a board here...

Here are some links...

Blue Planet (BP): http://blueplanet.hard-light.net
The Babylon Project (TBP): http://babylon.hard-light.net
Inferno Release 1 (INFR1): http://inferno.hard-light.net
Inferno: Alliance (INFA): http://inferno.hard-light.net/SOL

Most of the very popular campaigns and mods have their own forums on HLP though, so be sure to look around. :)
