Title: Ummm, Admiral in need of assistance here....
Post by: admiral_wolf on September 18, 2008, 01:55:54 pm
Um, ladies and gentlemen and Vasudans......HELP!!!!

I don't know what I've done, but I ran Turey's Installer to update the files and add JAD, but now everything is wrong.  I'm playing Inferno part one, and I'm sure I'm meant to flying GTF Vesuvius fighters, instead I'm in a Ullyeses, with no primaries, and the Carrier I'm meant to be protecting is also a Ullyeses.

Also, I tried to use another campaign, and this came up:

Error: weapons.tbl(line 512:
Error: Required token = [#End] or [$Name:], found [@Laser Glow: 2_laserglow03]
in weapon: GTVA Rapid Laser.

File:J:\src\cvs\fs2_open_3_6_9.final\code\Parse\PARSELO.CPP
Line: 659
[This filename points to the location of a file on the computer that built this executable]

Call stack:
------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------

Have I just endangered the Galatea 297 years too soon?

Run debug. Post fs2_open.log.

...Sir.

I'd also advise you to check the Galatea's Tech Room database, particularly the part about spelling Ulysses correctly.

Hmm... You seem to trying to run inferno R1 mod without its scp patch. How this has happened i'm not so sure...

As the wolfman said fs2_open.log would help solving the issue

Also... Could you please explain in more detail how exactly you had the game installed in the first place?

I think I tried to run debug right (using the browse button on the installer launcher) and this is what came up

Error: icons.tbl(line 6:
Error: Missing required token: [#Start]. Found [:]  instead.

File:J:\src\cvs\fs2_open_3_6_9.final\code\Parse\PARSELO.CPP
Line: 659
[This filename points to the location of a file on the computer that built this executable]

Call stack:
------------------------------------------------------------------
    required_string()    brief_parse_icon_tbl()    game_init()    game_main()    WinMain()    WinMainCRTStartup()    kernel32.dll 75c93833()
    ntdll.dll 76e9a9bd()
------------------------------------------------------------------

I had FS2 retail installed, then also installed Turey's installer ontop of it, and that's how it's been running for a year without any problems until now.

fs2_open.log is located in \freespace2\data\.

Yet another typical inferno R1 without SCP patch error...

If it's using Uylesses it's because it can't find the ship in question. Either the files or some path (mod.ini) is wrong.

Yeah. Forget about the log. Get patch (http://www.freespacemods.net/download.php?view.353).

If it's using Uylesses it's because it can't find the ship in question. Either the files or some path (mod.ini) is wrong.
If it's Inferno, there should be no need for mod.ini.

If it helps, I have a folder marked INFR1 with the .exe file inf_release1.  Does that need to be extracted to the folder?

Hold that thought. I have to find a facepalm picture. Grrr (http://omglol.kerrolisaa.com/1/10675.jpg).

Install any and all .exe files. Including the one linked in my previous post.

Or we could return to the "Post your fs2_open.log" plan.

The only FS2_open file in the data folder is a notepad file.  Is that it?

Yes.. That is the one.. Though i would recommend opening it with some respectable text editor - or wordpad if you have none - instead of notepad though

Hmm.

Have you remembered to switch the campaign in-game, in addition to selecting a mod with the Launcher?

OK you say you are playing inferno part one correct?  Then why is it loading the JAD files?  Do you have the right mod selected in the launcher?

Opinion 2.  Create a new pilot file.

Who made this guy an Admiral anyway?

I finished S:AH 2372, and then switched the campaign to Inferno Part One in the campaign room, and the launcher is on Sol A:History.

The League Of Defence, and well you don't exactly have to be the best to lead, just need to know where the cheat manual is.

So you have the launcher set to one mod and your trying to play a different mod and you don't see a problem here?

Hmm... looking at the log file

Code: [Select]
Searching root 'e:\'
Searching root pack 'e:\tango1_fs2.vp'
Searching root pack 'e:\tangoA_fs2.vp'
Searching root pack 'e:\warble_fs2.vp'

You wouldnt happen to have a cd/dvd inside with fs related data?

Play the whole game with ulysses fighter error. That way when you have to take out a juggernaut, then you just have to take out a slow moving ulysses.

I thought admirals were required to memorize kara's FAQ before they could become ships' COs.

There was this whole discussion somewhere about Sol:A history not being compatible with the INF:R1 SCP patch.

IPORTANT FACT: DO NOT play S:AH when using the INFR1 SCP patch!

A while back before i joined HLP i downloaded S:AH and tried to play it with the SCP patch. I ended up having to trawl through every TBL and change the parts that where causing the problems - Not fun.

----

Anyway, what i recommend is having one folder for INFR1 with the SCP patch and another with S:AH that just uses the core INF files...

No idea what's causing the JAD problems though
