Hello guys, I just downloaded the files to play the Echo Gate user made campaign.
It is a .rar file with two files inside it, EchoGate.fc2 and Phantoms.fc2.
Maybe it's a silly question but I put those 2 files in the C:\Games\FreeSpace2 directory and I can not find them in the screen where I have to select a campaign. I put those files also in the C:\Games\FreeSpace2\fsport directory and still nothing happens. How can I solve this?
Thanks in advance.

First the main directory would be the wrong place to put them. They would go into data\missions or even better mod name\data\missions.
Now the big problem is fc2 files are only campaign files. There would need to be either a .vp file of several .fs2 files for it to be playable.

Can you elaborate a little? I do not fully understand what you mean with 'There would need to be either a .vp file of several .fs2 files for it to be playable'.
I can't play this mission only downloading that .rar? I downloaded it from a link in Freespace Wiki - http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/Echo_Gate

Just checked that file and it definitely doesn't contain what is needed to play it.

:(
OK now I downloaded Alliance Fights Back (http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/Alliance_Fights_Back) and it's a group of 7 files with .FSM extension and one with a .fsc extension.
Will that work if I put it in a directory like C:\Games\FreeSpace2\Alliance\data ?

That one is a FS1 campaign. Really not sure about it. Might try checking to see if there is a FSPort version of it.

Try this (http://www.freespacemods.net/download.php?view.188) for the Echo Gate one. If it works you owe Goober a cookie. :D

FS1 mission files have a different structure compared to FS2 mission files. They just won't go together. Forget about that one unless you actualy have the genuine FS1.

No. It's all about the subfolders in \data\. Mission and campaign files go to \data\missions, table files to \data\tables, textures to \data\maps, models to \data\models and so on.
Do it the easy way and scour through FreeSpaceMods.net. They have a ton of mods and campaigns, with information on what each one needs in order to work.

It works!!!!! Thanks a lot. I owe 2 cookies, because the file contains two campaigns!!!!! ;)

I placed a ported version of the alliance fights back on FreeSpaceMods.net. Should work with FSOpen.

Thanks Macfie!!!! Will it be enough if I put the file in the main directory?

Don't put anything extra into the \freespace2\ folder. If it is a .vp, put it into \freespace2\alliancefightsback\ and use the Launcher's MOD tab to select the \alliancefightsback\ folder as your active mod. Start the game, select the correct campaign from the Campaign Room and you're ready.
