Title: [SmartShaders] (again) Need links
Post by: nick on September 22, 2008, 08:33:22 pm
Hi, I'm trying to apply the HDRish smartshader and I've tried using search but every link I found is dead.  Can anyone help me out?

Thanks

What card do you have? This feature was dropped from the ATI drivers years ago (starting with 6.4). There was a workaround that did the trick at least up to the X1900 line, by replacing one driver file with its 6.3 version, but I have no idea if that still works on modern cards.

Nevermind I got it to work by just installing the old 6.3 drivers.  Thanks anyway though

First we need a material system...

The problem with the smart shaders is, that you have to use an older driver (or at least the OpenGL part of an older driver). But all drivers compatible with smart shaders, aren't compatible with the new PS 3.0 shaders in FS2.... so no normal mapping or parallax mapping... :(

Putting requests in giant red text is totally the best way to get a coder to implement them.

Totally.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. This forum really needs some sarcasm tags. Also, sarcasm fails on the internets.
