Weird Sound Clips (http://www.game-warden.com/masterpokey/va/blar4.zip)

Don't listen too long, I imagine you might go insane.

Wierd stuff. So how did you make these?

We could have a thread dedicated to creating new sound effects for FSO.

More Weird Sound Clips (http://www.game-warden.com/masterpokey/va/blar9.zip)

This is basically all of the clips from the first file, plus some more. I would have put up a separate file for each, but individually they seem to crash firefox and nobody likes having to open lots of zip archives just to get at a single file in each. That and I was too lazy to remove the stuff that was in the previous link form the new archive.

Basically, I recorded me saying something into my microphone and edited the heck out of it. I used Audacity, a good freeware, open source [I think], cross-platform [I think] audio editing tool.

Most of these are just the same clip playing several times overlapping, with various changes to the tracks. The most common such edits were equalization, normalization, fade in/out, change pitch, reverse, echo, and change tempo. I pretty much just fooled around until I got a cool effect.

For some of the more recent (i.e. higher number) clips I also mixed in bits from the previous clips (or individual tracks extracted from the project files), particularly a nice raspy buzz sound that I had in the first clip but couldn't figure out how to recreate.
