Title: Calling anyone with French or German FS2 versions
Post by: Backslash on September 30, 2008, 10:21:07 pm
I have a crazy idea and would like to test something.  I need the files data\fonts\font0*.vf from sparky_fs2.vp from a French or German install -- preferably both, eventually.  Would someone be kind enough to attach them or upload them somewhere?

I don't really know what's different about them compared to the ones of the english installation  :confused:

Anyway, these are the files of my german install...

I'm guessing they might contain some characters outside the normal A-Z range.

one thing is sure its the default keyboard mapping, when in multi i have to think in qwerty or my chat comes out in azerty and makes even less sense than normal, so if a default control is "a" i need to press "q"or reconfigure the defaults............;

Thank you Admiral MS!  Exactly what I needed.  Now I'm very curious how the French set is different.  Anyone? :)

andicirk, do you have a French language version of Freespace?  or are you using an English version with your OS having a French keyboard layout?

I'm guessing they might contain some characters outside the normal A-Z range.
Correct!

The German fonts has ß ä, ö and ü. French has á à, é, è etc. :)

Strange... FS2 never accepted any of these for some reason when I tried to use them.

Yeah I figured that out upon a couple Wikipedia searches. :) Strange thing is that the German font files Admiral MS provided already have á à, é, è etc. as well.  So I'm hoping someone can provide a French font file set so that I can see how the file structure is different, if any.

My goal is to make a font file 'hybrid' that will be English, but also able to display all letters of French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, etc.  I'm making significant progress, at least with the smallest font so far...

A French font will automatically be Italian.

For the Spanish and Portuguese ones you'll need additional stuff, like the reversed "!"...
