Title: How to.....
Post by: Unknown Target on March 02, 2002, 01:46:15 pm
Make submodels and new turrets in Descent Network's MODVIEW.
Whenever I add a turret, it doesn't appear (in FRED 2), and when I want to make a destroyed turret have a certain submodel debris, I can't figure out which operators are which...
Help me please!

I think turrets have to be added in a 3D modelling program as submodels, as does debris...somewhere around here there's a guide that explains it.

Yea, but every time I make a model (in MS3D) all my objects turn up as one big one, and no subobjects....

You could do what I do... make the model and the turrets and whatnot in MS3D (or in my case, Blender)  export to to something Truespace will recognize, and add it all together in truespace.

I make everything in MS3D then export it too wavefront .obj file then convert it to .cob
unglue everything then regule the lights etc then convert it to .pof and that seems to work for me

When you save the ship as something so that TS 2 (or 1) will understand TS will see it as one thing turrent engine wash the work so save each subobject as a seperat file and open in ts and then position them accordingly.
