Title: Can't start game: "wcsaga.exe - Application Error"

I downloaded and installed the wing commander saga prologue.

It installed OK and I can run the launcher but when I try to load the actual game I get this:

Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program

Can someone help with this?

It seems I can't run anything based on SCP.

I tried Beyond the Red Line and FreeSpace Open I got the same error:

It's been a while since I played any of them so I don't know what might have caused it.

FreeSpace and FreeSpace 2 retail both work fine, however.

No need, I fixed the problem by removing a certain file related to OpenAL as per the instructions in your troubleshooting guide   :yes:
All works fine now   ;)

And don't forget to check out the tech demos, they show you a bit more of how the game will look when it's done.

Is it the autopilot test? Or are there extras? I want some extra saga'age. Any new standalone missions in it?

Yeah, our first autopilot demo (it recreates some missions from WC3) and our second tech demo (some WC4-missions)
Both are available on our download page.

They add a lot of WC feeling to Saga. The autopilot in the prologue is not very WC-ish and is not meant to exist in Saga since we want to have the look and feel of a WC game, and one part of WC was that nice autopilot which existed in all games and shows you and your pals flying around in your ships.
The tech demos want to show how it could feel in the end (although there will be some other new features, too.  But, alas, I'm not authorized to talk about them ;) )
