i need FRED editor standalone for download for Descent Freespace,
someone can provide it for me? there is NO PLACE on the internet to download FRED,there are thousands of guides, tutorials, etc but there are no place to download Descent Freespace FRED
-
Descent FreeSpace? FreeSpace 1? Well, it's included with the game itself, but I'd really recommend FREDding with either the FS2 FRED or FRED_Open, since practically no one plays the original FS1 or wants any mods for it anymore.
Incidentally, a "standalone" FRED doesn't exist. It needs source material. Meaning, it needs the game data: models, tables and such. You need the whole game.

FRED 1 was included with the game but didn't add an icon to the start menu. Double check that it isn't in the folder you installed FS1 to.

in my freespace directory exists a FRED application but is a copy of the autorun! not fred
fred 2 is compatible with Descent Freespace?
-
You can import FS1 missions into FS2_open. There is no way to export them again though.
-
it doesnt exist a download location for fred1?
-
Where did you get your copy of FS1 from? See what we can't understand is how you've managed to have FS installed but not FRED. We could just upload FRED fairly easily but no one wants to do that if your problem is actually deeper than just a missing copy of a file and it sounds like it is deeper.
So if you simply accidental deleted the file or something tell us. But otherwise it's probably better in the long run if we figure out why your copy of FRED mysteriously vanished.

its strange,i only downloaded Descent Freespace and installed, after that i see FRED is a FSLAUNCH MFC application(Same as the launcher)the uploader possibly copied the launcer and named it FRED,and FRED never existed.
for now i only need the exe file of fred 1

You got FS1 from Good Old Games?
Hmmm. If the installer has screwed up the download of FRED that is a little worrying. Anyway here (http://www.freespacefaq.com/Misc-Downloads/FRED.zip)'s a copy of FRED. Extract it to your main FS1 folder and you should be able to get to work on your own missions.
Bear in mind that most of the information for FRED on the net actually refers to FRED 2 (which is the editor for Freespace 2) or FRED2_Open (Which is the one for FS2_Open) rather than the FS1 version. The majority of the community moved on to FRED2_Open as it is much more powerful than either of the other two.
