Title: A tiny request
Post by: Romanmolf on October 05, 2008, 07:27:37 am
Hi. Can you please give me the ''.wav'' of the R1 menu music?

We don't need to for a simple reason...you can take it from FS1 or the FreeSpace Port.

It's the "m4_amb3" soundtrack, look for that. If you want you can extract it from INFR1's VP with VPView. :)

Gotcha.  ;)

I always liked that music. It's one of my favourites.

I like it too. :)

Check out Nix's thread about music improvements, there's an improved m4_amb3.ogg among the files :)

m5_nrml3 and m10_nrml1 are awesome too.

M10_Nrml1 is probably the best FS music track I ever heard.

It's an ambient track, although cool it's not as cool as battle ones...

The ambient one is mesmerizing, the battle ones are just completely epic.

I like FS1's cinema track, it seems 'intellectual'.

Ambient tracks work better when trying to achieve enlightenment, Battle tracks are a tad bit distracting in such scenarios.

When I listened to M10_Nrml1 outside the game for the first time, I finally realised I am the "ow" in the word "now".

Since we're talking about tiny request...how about making me a honorary Inferno Team member? After all, I did spiffy and HTL-ify some inferno ships.

I want more badges near my name.

Why don't you become a true Inferno team member by improving some outdated models from INF SCP? This is my tiny request. :)

Not AFAIK. That was the Ryujin you saw (basically a Tereus on steroids).

Seriously, why don't you simply join the INF SCP team and work as modeller and nothing else(since you don't seem to love Inferno)?

I like your models and your efforts. :) I dislike the fact that your custom title says nothing about your models and campaigns. :ick:

INF SCP needs a modeller. Maybe you can model some Jovian and/or proto-EA ships for INFA2 as they're the only ones that will soon be released to the public. ;)

I'm serious...accept or decline...

Come to think of it, do we actually use any of Trash's models at all?

Post by: Mobius on October 09, 2008, 01:35:58 pm
He improved many models used in INF and in OTT but...uh...I don't think we're using his upgrades.

But it doesn't matter, if he's willing to help he'd be welcome.

Really? Not even one?

No Stentor? Perseus advanced? Tannen? Hedetet? :eek2:
They were nice designs.  I don't get it why you kicked them out of INF.

Hmm...gimme a bit to think it over.
If all goes well I should be finished FREDing  FOW:COTS within a week (or two).  I should have more free time after that's done....Hm...but then again...SOTS:AMOC is out. My mod needs updating...and  FOW:DOTA (if I ever make htat thing)... ARGH!!!!! :sigh:
Title: Re: A tiny request
Post by: Mobius on October 09, 2008, 02:27:27 pm
1) We're not using them right now, it doesn't mean we're not going to use them. The Hedetet isn't part of the package...there's another improved Stentor...the current Tanen is outdated so yeah, we'll probably use it in the future. :)

2) Think about the benefits...there will be two badges(INFA and INF SCP) for you...also, you don't need to work desperately and intensively on INF. It'll take a while towork the definitive Jovian and proto-EA fleets(INFA1 takes precedence) so I guess you'll be able to get your WIPs done in the meantime. :)

When I first saw the Perseus Advanced in INFR1, I was like, "Huge afterburners? Really?"

When I flew it, I went, "WHEEEEE!"

INF SCP needs a modeller.

With so many ships?!

EDIT: Oh, and...
He improved many models used in INF and in OTT but...uh...I don't think we're using his upgrades.

Why don't you just change the names of the ships? These ships are TOO good to don't be used in INFSCP.

Please note that most INF SCP models are pretty old and blocky for modern standards...Woo doesn't want to release INF SCP without upgrading them first.

INF SCP isn't anywhere near to release, be it from a FREDding or modding perspective.

I don't think they're all in need of upgrades because many models are pretty recent.

There are models in dire need of upgrades, though...they take precedence over the others.

Can you model? There's a need of modellers and possibly textures for the improvements.

As for the FREDders...I don't know...me and Snail will start working on INF SCP as soon as INFA gets done... :)

There's no urgent need of FREDders. To be honest I think INF SCP doesn't need more of them.

[sarcasm]Yeah, cause INF SCP has it's missions complete, and doesn't lack FREDders[/sarcasm]
Title: Re: A tiny request
Post by: Mobius on October 19, 2008, 01:01:09 pm
There's me and Snail on standby to work on them. We don't need FREDders with poor experience to fill the team. There's a dire need of modellers.

I think that having too many FREDders in a dev team is a problem.

Maybe. Imagine if ten FREDders bicker over ten different outcomes for one mission...

Nah, that's not the point. The problem is that you'll have to deal with different FRED, messaging and designing styles. Furthermore, expect one or more FREDders to contribute in a very poor way and delay the release.
