Im very interested in head tracking within freespace 2, so i was wondering if anyone had seen this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jd3-eiid-Uw
Most of the threads here use Trackir and a webcam. I just want to know if anyone has tried using the wiimote as a camera.
-
Eh? The Wiimote doesnt come with a cam built in. How'd ya mean?
-
As the video shows, the wiimote features a high quality IR camera with blob detection (its in the tip, its what looks at the sensor bar). it basically just looks for points of IR light, exactly like what most people have done with webcams and the TrackIR stuff.

i think freetrack is working on something like that. wiimote camera support. and it would just use the track ir interface.

I can't check the vid at the moment, I was under the impression the Sensor bar detected the TWO (vertically) alligned beams the Wii-mote uses.
Ahh well not worth getting heated about. Hope they bring out a radar gun attachment too.

You got it backwards Colonel. The Wiimote actually detects the sensor bar, not the other way around. :)

the latest version of freetrack supports wiimotes

I humbly submit to your superior nintendo wii-mote knowledge. Whes the handgun out? :shaking:

just saw the video for this and wow, FPS games will never be the same, hell games in general will never be the same. i remember when duck hunt was a revolutionary thing...or that little robot setup that came with gyromight...gyromite...however its spelled, i cant remember.
we're now one step closer to games being played in the matrix! just without the whole dying thing, killer robots and malicious sunglasses wearing programs.
