...wow.

I dunno who made it, but one is definitely done and it's in Blue Planet. Go get it there.

Meh. I've seen worse.

Though it doesn't mean this one was a good thing in any way.

Yes, it lets me state that the Marine model here requested can be found in Blue Planet.

Right, so the EVA suit. Extra Vehicular Acitivity. ie Spacesuit

You know, when you say EVA suit...I think of this:

Well i can find a Solid Snake Model made in 3D Studio Max my friend has, and i give it to anyone who wants to convert the .MDL into a .POF and have someone make the tbl's. it would be cool to see snake running around

Alpha 3: Wait, is that the new SUPER SECRET WEAPON GTVI has been developing?
Alpha 2: You mean the SUPER SECRET HADES?
Alpha 3: Yes! It can fire a completely undetectable beam cannon from anywhere in the system!

Snake: *fires a couple of shoulder-launched missiles*

Command: Congratulations, you have successfully quashed the rebellion! Have a forty-five minute cutscene, pilot! You've earned it.

     EVA is not Eva
and Evas are not suits either.

I like the idea of a Dolphin shaped droid with a single gun for either surgical strikes or to take out the sub-systems as described above. Should have quick darting movements since it wont have an shielding to help give it some survival in combat and make it harder to kill.  :)

Hmmm... I've got some ideas involving pilot models... and extravehicular activites...

Still makes me think of that scene from Moonraker...

       Which was wickedass

I thought about creating a pilot suit and having the guy go into a ship as an armoured infantry man to capture it but that would be a lot of work for one mission and thus probably a virtual waste of time.

Well, when you think about it, if one could fire shield-penetrating bullets, riddling the cockpit with them would almost certainly disable the fighter. Spacewalk Marines might not be as useless as thought.

In-game, though, you'd essentially have to code a "headshot" region for each fighter. So I guess it won't happen.

If there were shield-penetrating bullets, why wouldn't they be used in...everything? Like the Maxim?

Well, they wouldn't do much damage if they didn't hit a particularly crucial component. Tiny bullets might have enough concentrated mass to puncture a shield, but not do much against physical armour...

In short, no idea.

Plausibility depends on storyline universe.

We aren't limited to FreeSpace...space marines could conceivably do severe damage in science fiction (AND in real life). A bazooka-like homing weapon fired by a Marine in space could possibly even take a spacecraft apart in one shot. This is especially true if that universe's spacecraft are small and compact, and/or vulnerable to projectile attack for whatever the author's reason. It's even more possible if the warhead contains a small nuclear device.

Of course, you have to ask yourself what people would be doing fighting in space suits if fighters were present. Desperate times, perhaps. There could be missions featuring Marines planting futuristic C-4, or sabotaging enemy ships with drills, saws, cutting torches...

...which gets me thinking.

Leeches.

Is it possible to create drone-like enemies that latch onto ships and slowly damage them until they are physically removed from the ship? This behavior could be useful for a great number of things.

Not even going that far, but having a non-beam weapon that applies damage continuously, instead of all at once, could be cool.

Buzz Droids?
IIRC a discord missile was released a while back...how did the buzz droids there work?

Leeches.

And from the shadows, the Beast emerge into the FreeSpace universe.

Conversion beams would be cool too.

They were simply flagged with 'Electronics', the same function as the disruptor missile.
