Without further ado; a high resolution version of our beloved forum's logo, icon and insignia:

4600x4600 resolution: MediaFire link (http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?agongmqztgz)
...and an example of what can be made with it with some cheap GIMPering:

Also, 1280x1024 and 1920x1200 resolution backgrounds here (http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?g2e3zlmy0zg)
In hindsight, I probably should've made this entirely in vector graphics, but then again, it works just fine as it is.

"No Hotlinking" :wtf:

fix'd. It's now a jpg as opposed to better quality png, but you can download the PNG background pack from MediaFire.
-
The blue has got to go.

Done... although I could see no blue on my monitor, the blue channel did have some intensity. Strange. May have to check my monitor calibration... Oh well. Is it also visible in the mosaics? I can fix them if needed.

Now it's brown. Check your monitor...
-
Brown is better than blue :P
-
Nice... I can picture it. Put a star backround, nebula, and an Orion cruser with Perseus fighter escort, as well as a super impose Hard-Light Productions. Will make a great desktop!!
-
Well... those colour issues should be gone now.

Yep... Do you mind if I borrow that image. Not gonna rip it, just stick on a backround and stuff like that. Experimentation if you will

No, that's piracy. the FBI can lock you up for that.
It's -meant- to be used

This is going to be a very good desktop . . .

No, I do not mind. If you put your works for public download, common courtesy would be to reference this thread or otherwise mention that the work was not entirely your own, but I'm not too tight assed about things like this, especially as all I did was interpolated an already existing design to higher resolution... Also, I think if you do a sufficient amount of work with the source to fit it into your image, you create something new, and it falls into fair use category and personally I think it's sufficient if you reference the source, if the creator of the source didn't specifically state that you should ask before using his work...
The reason you should mention using someone else's work as a source is that if you don't, you'll have the off chance of looking like an ass to anyone who realizes where the source is from. And seeing how this is Sparta internets, there will be those people... Personally it matters little to me whether or not someone knows which nickname is responsible for creating what.
Also, something fun with the logo...

 I was thinking of suggesting that!

Which program did you do the logos in? I can't find any willing to index 00ff00 green correctly. Or am I missing something?
Thumbs up at the work, by the way :D

DDS works for insignias (and gives you 16,777,216 million colours and 256 levels of transparency instead of 255 colours and one level of transparency...). But if you wish to know, you can get a tool for GIMP that lets you save a palette from an indexed image, then edit that palette so that the "un-pure" green becomes #00ff00 instead of whatever the indexing likes to use instead.
It's unnecessary work though in this case, because like said, DDS works better. TGA's probably work as well for that matter, but DDS is preferable to them.
In fact, you could also use bigger than 128^2 insignias, but the interface won't support them - they will show in the graphics, but not in the pilot barracks menu. For most cases though, 128^2 is a rather sufficient resolution for a supposedly painted insignia.

I want the squadron logo version, please...UL it to FSMods...
-
It's so small that it's easier to put up here...

DDS works for insignias (...)
Thanks, that's all I had to know :)

:jaw: Is that a normal mapped hercules!?

Yes. :drevil:

Hmm... Does DDS work in 3.6.9 too? It doesn't show up here.
